I'd just say I'm going "up City" tbh
The-Almighty-Jay@reddit
To piss my London friends, I say, "I'm going central"
jordansrowles@reddit
My ex could not get used to that. I moved to Leighton Buzzard, and would it would go like
Me: “Can probably get x up city”
Them: “What city?”
Me: “MK?”
Them: “MK’s a big city? Where?”
Me: “City..”
TH14sBoombox@reddit
I was in a meeting yesterday and someone actually called it Intu - despite them going bust quite some time ago, AND that no one ever called it that...

Me too, I was so pleased when we officially became a city as people I worked with annoying would correct me ..😬
katieamarsh@reddit
What about the hockey stadium.. that is now the network rail headquarters.
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Yes that’s a shame, Only went there a couple of times. Once was American Football 🏈

Braddle for real locals not Brad-well Horrod instead of Hor-wood

Blue Bridge and Bancroft Park are collectively known as Roman Park. There’s the obvious Roman Ruins on Bancroft Park but also the site of a Roman Mausoleum and Bronze Age Roundhouses on Blue Bridge.

Up city(centre MK) down town (bletch)
Fast-Stomach5486@reddit
The B&Q roundabout in Bletchley
always call it that when I’m given directions, Which has now turned into an Aldi years ago!!
ZucchiniLivid5443@reddit
I do the same thing with 'The Little Chef Roundabout' on the A5. It's been a McDonald's for years now.
Haribo1681@reddit
It's not quite the same, but in a similar category for me:
Woughton, Loughton and Broughton. All spelt the same, all pronounced differently 🤷🏻♂️
Benoit-Balls@reddit
Wait, aren't Loughton and Broughton pronounced the same?
Haribo1681@reddit
Not to my knowledge…
Loughton - pronounced like ‘ou’ in loud Broughton - pronounced like ‘or’ in more
PowerTarget@reddit
This is correct.
Loughton as plough Broughton as in bro
Bradders33@reddit
Yep. It's always made me laugh. Woof-ton, L-ow-ton and Braw-ton.
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Yes indeed very true
UsefulAd8513@reddit
Dogbone Roundabout for the Bletcham Way/A5 roundabout.
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Haha yes, before it was two roundabouts and learners hell
tubbyrutter@reddit
I'd assume they are referring to the one under the A5 thats shaped like a dog bone.
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
The problem was it was a very fast roundabout as people accelerated to get on A5
tubbyrutter@reddit
I've no memory of that being two roundabouts, when did it change?
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Hmm must be 25 years ago at least
tubbyrutter@reddit
Yeah at least, i've been driving MK for about that long and don't remember it as a kid and I used to use it loads every day for school in the 90s.
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Now I am doubting my own memory… Hmm 🤔 I remember the road works and everything. I also remember a stop sign on Tavistock street
tubbyrutter@reddit
You're probably right I was a kid in the 90s so was probably busy reading the beano in the car rather than focusing on the roundabout!
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
Hope so or it’s the Mandela effect lol 😂

'Old Wetherpoons' down near the station... or 'Moons' of you are going to the one in the Xscape :)
OmniWise@reddit
I typically park behind the bus station. Except its not really the bus station anymore. So I often end up having to explain myself.
Often still call the big CMK Morrisons, "you know the one at the Leisure Plaza".
On a final note, still dont understand why we have 3 different iterations of Bradwell, or why New Bradwell is the oldest part.
Sedulous280@reddit (OP)
I think if you go to discovery centre where bradwell abbey is , I am assuming this abbey was older than new bradwell
OmniWise@reddit
Ooh I forgot Bradwell Abbey.. let alone thinking there may have been an actual Abbey there. I have lived in MK a long time and it never occurred to me that was the reason. Thanks!
Cainedbutable@reddit
Bradwell village itself has a lot of historic buildings too. Two old pubs (and one that's since closed, The Bell). It's got old farm houses from the 1700s etc...
New Bradwell was then built mostly for the railway workers.
Bradwell common was then the latest built, with Bradwell around the same time.
DisciplineOrdinary66@reddit
I would say Old Bradwell/Bradwell Village and Bradwell Abbey are both older
tubbyrutter@reddit
But the westcroft Morrisons is bigger no?
OmniWise@reddit
Could be. I've never done a comparison.
Normal-Help-1337@reddit
It's always been "going to the city" or "city centre"
_WretchedDoll_@reddit
The magic roundabout, found close to Asda Oakridge Park
Ye_olde_oak_store@reddit
Id call the side by the station stationside. (Though i dont know where stationside ends.
OldSnareDrum@reddit
The "Old A5" for V4 Watling St and "A5D" for the A5.
