Right, obviously we're both British. What are these things called?

Midday meal is a funny one. We'd refer to it as "lunch" but you'd still call it "school dinner" if it was a cooked meal provided by the school, or "packed lunch" if you brought it from home. You'd definitely call the time "lunch time" regardless though. But yeah, dinner and tea were interchanged for the evening meal. I'm from from North London but with a mother from West London. I kinda think "dinner" is a generational thing, because I'm pretty sure most older English Londoners used to call it "tea" when I was growing up. Another one I like is: is desert and pudding used synonymously? or is pudding just a kind of desert? Also: what do you call a bread roll?
