Whats going on at the Coop?

Since the cyber attack a few weeks our local Coop has had no deliveries at all. The shelves are literally bare, you cant even get a bar of chocolate. They have even put a notice on the door apologising. So is this the same everywhere and is the cyber attack still ongoing? A bit inconvenient as its the only shop for a 10 mile radius. Cheers.

Welcome to the growth era of the Kier Starmer's Labour Party. /s
seven-cents@reddit
It was a cyber attack, what does politics have to do with it?
35120red@reddit
Nothing. It was a sarcastic joke ffs. 🙄
attilathetwat@reddit
Do you laugh at your own jokes?

I went into co-op today and I swear there was absolutely nothing at all. No bread, the fridges were all empty, no veg, no drinks , even no cleaning stuff a few shelves only had a few random items . I don't see the point of the one near me even being open there was nothing to buy!
Strong_Attempt4185@reddit
Whoa, Coop got hit too? We’ve got enough of a shitshow going on here in the US that I haven’t been paying attention to all your major grocers getting cyber attacked. First M&S (though admittedly M&S is more than just groceries)
Nianudd@reddit
Not just Co Op Food, I know our funeral care and legal services have been hit too
InternationalRide5@reddit
The problem with Coop is that in many remoter places (Scottish highlands and islands) it is just about the only food retailer within 20+ miles.
Inner_Farmer_4554@reddit
I've had no issue with their shop delivery. Not sure about my prepaid funeral plan, cos I've had no reason to use it...
InternationalRide5@reddit
Please let us know how that goes.
Nianudd@reddit
All joking aside, one of our regulars (I'm in Co Op Food) had problems with a family members plan. I think they had to go with a different funeral director, then try and claim the money for the plan back. Legal services are also affected.
Drewski811@reddit
The attack was still ongoing last week, a lot of what were presumably considered the more vulnerable systems were closed off to prevent any damage, and this has had a knock on effect that's still ongoing.
It's not just Food, their Funeralcare business is pretty badly affected too.
There's not much information going out about it, because they believe the attackers are still in the system and any internal messages are being read.
CBWeather@reddit
So do they have too many coffins or not enough? If it's not enough then they could stick the extra bodies in the empty freezers.

You're a 'think outside the box' kind of guy !

Empty delivery vans can double up as hearses.
InternationalRide5@reddit
We've got yer grampa here.
He's in three ambient totes, one chilled tote, and we put the head in with the ice-cream so it didn't rattle about.
Shall I carry them into the kitchen for you or leave him at the door?
SoggyWotsits@reddit
Empty fridges all round…. Sorry!

In Suffolk, exactly the same,
kestrelita@reddit
Lots of bare shelves at mine yesterday, felt like being back in the COVID era.
Objective_Ticket@reddit
My two nearest Co-ops are pretty bare at the moment with a number of shelves completely empty. I think they need to be public about how a hack that supposedly members details had stopped their entire supply chain. M&S didn’t run out of stock.
Fun-Necessary-173@reddit
M&S are the same. I spoke to someone in one of the big stores and she said the clothes are all out and they have no stores so once it's gone it's gone.
MuttonDressedAsGoose@reddit
I noticed gaps at my M&S groceries, but I was able to get what I wanted. It's not entirely bare, yet.
Inevitable_Resolve23@reddit
My mrs has just been to M&S and they're out of chocolate and crisps. I'm floored - that's half my diet!
cougieuk@reddit
Any news on the Percy Pigs ?
RockyStoney@reddit
So this is why M&S and Co-Op in the Channel Islands are so empty right now
I imagine it'll take even longer to restock here due to the need to ferry everything across the channel
Technical-Meat-9135@reddit
I've had a delay with getting a will set up with co-op legal.
It was already heavily delayed before the cyber attack, and now they can't read our case file at all.
The staff I've spoken to don't seem to have much info, which should probably be expected.
Hour-Cup-7629@reddit (OP)
Ive got a thing going on with Coop legal as well, plus my mums funeral plan is with them. Obvs not the best time to die atm!
BrokenDogToy@reddit
It's the same for my co-op my understanding from staff is that part of what's gone down in the cyber attack is the system that says what should be sent where - so when branches are getting deliveries, it's completely random. You could definitely see that at mine - very little meat and vegetables, but if you fancy grapes you're really in luck!
paulywauly99@reddit
We had no grapes but lots of strawberries!
nasted@reddit
Same for ours. I mean - of all the retailers you could attack - why the Co-Op?
cakesforever@reddit
Mine been fine until I looked online today and 70% of my regular items weren't available for delivery.
indomitablegaul@reddit
Same at ours. Loads of empty shelves
jimmywhereareya@reddit
My local coop had a similar issue this past weekend
Psylaine@reddit
What I heard was that its seriously messed up deliveries but where they can they are trying to priioritize remote shops like yours so you might actually have it better than some of us!
Pineapple_JoJo@reddit
Sadly fallout from a cyber attack can go on for months.
MayonaiseOnATable@reddit
Thankfully my local one hasn’t been affected too badly, but they are suspending delivery’s of all but essential items, think there was a few articles on it
Oohoureli@reddit
I’m dealing with their Legal Services arm, and their systems have been out for two weeks and counting.
OrganizationFun2140@reddit
I asked a member of staff at my local co-op today and they seemed completely baffled.
AF_II@reddit
Yes, and yes. They haven't manage to recover all their data/restart all their systems.
