The metric to look for is bars of pressure on the machine for quality espresso. Something like a breville with the pressure meter is a good start and shows you with analog feedback if you have a good tamp or quality grind and stuff.

The rest is trial and error but that’s the best way to learn to make good espresso shots and other drinks. A steam wand is nice to have. Built in grinders are usually a scam and get jammed up. If you must do a built in, make sure it is a burr grinder, steel parts and you can take it apart because you need to be able to maintenance.

A standalone grinder is nice to have as you can use it for spices and other things too aside from coffee.
