Where to go for family weekend mini break?

Looking to go away for a few days on the bank holiday weekend in August. 2 adults, 3 young children. I was thinking maybe somewhere near the coast, or maybe Cardiff or Scotland. Just want a nice break where we can chill, nice scenery, activities etc.
