All I’m saying is that if you’ve backpacked or done archery elk, you know how ounces make pounds and pounds destroy you at 10,000 ft when you’re climbing a ridge.

7 ounces over a Glock 20 is not worth it in the slightest. It’s 9 ounces over my 9mm that I carry in black bear country.

I guess this is good if you’re sitting in a tree stand all day, but it’s not worth if you’re moving and carrying weight.

Ive been backpacking, but sure if you are comparing it to the 20, the 20 wins on weight. In the grand scheme of handguns carried for bear defense though, I would still consider the 40 to be on the light side.

This with a 9mm Dillon barrel is probably your best bet, since it'll give you fierce effect on target with manageable recoil so you can get follow on shots quickly.

But it won't matter. Any chambering works fine as bear defense. The "big gun for bear" meme is just fuddlore.

Unless these dont sell at these prices, it wont go lower, we saw with g34 gen 5, some people waited for lower prices, and then they stopped selling them, when a certain number had sold. Although it possible scalpers bought bulk amounts of the g34 gen 5's to resell once they are discontinued.

I don’t even hike in Bear Country or anything, but I really wanted a Glock 40 Gen 5 MOS for… “offensive” handgun purposes. Similar to the idea behind the Mark 23.

Like if there’s ever a scenario where all you can have is a handgun, a Glock 40 is literally my top choice to solve most problems. 😂👍🏼

They removed the finger grooves from the grip and changed the barrel, supposedly better coating on the slide and the later versions of Gen 5 got front slide serrations.

I for one and glad they got rid of the grooves, my fingers never quite lined up with them.

field strip no problem with rear sight removed, not my everyday carry as you can imagine. i prefer sights for defensive use anyway but like that the optic doesn't move with the slide in this setup. this mount is no longer made and was intended for the 17/19 but just fits the 20 though not advertised to do so
