Shop Warned Me About Corsair Vengeance DDR5.

Hey all, I’m currently building a new system with the following core parts: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X870-A GAMING WIFI I’ve narrowed my DDR5 RAM options down to: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL28 The shop I’m buying from warned me against the Corsair kit, saying they've seen issues like blue screensanx crashes especially when enabling EXPO or running at 6000MHz. That surprised me, because Corsair is a well-known brand. But I know DDR5 at higher speeds can be finicky, especially with EXPO and BIOS compatibility.
he offers me instead: XPG Lancer RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30. but says that he will provide the corsair kit if I choose to.
What do you think? is he trying to sell me something more profitable for him?
_lefthook@reddit
All heresay but i've seen alot of people on reddit complain about corsair kits recently, espesh as i recently upgraded to AM5 and was researching alot.
It made me not buy corsair for ram (its my go to brand for ram and psu in the past). I also sold pc parts and corsair was great back in 2015-2020.
Unable-Ad-652@reddit
corsair ram is complete dogshit, i got 2 32 gb ddr5 kits and both blue screen butt fucked me
FiTZnMiCK@reddit
2000-2010 Corsair was king of performance-to-value.
These days I’ll consider them for PSUs and that’s about it. Maybe their cases.
Their RAM, fans, and AIOs are overpriced and the software you need to make the RGB on them all work together is criminally shitty.
Jeep-Eep@reddit
Their PSUs are overpriced with FSP and Superflower and old stalwarts like Seasonic or Silverstone in play. Ironically, until these reports their RAM was still competitive as a higher priced alternate to the go-to GSkills.
CsrRoli@reddit
Seasonic is even more overpriced, Silverstone severely fell off in quality
taurentipper@reddit
I agree but just had a super flower doa and needed a replacement quickly so ended up with a corsair. Did not want corsair but stock issues necessitated it
Darksirius@reddit
I've been 100% Corsair since around 2017. I've had almost zero issues with iCue over the years, yeah some small things, but nothing "rig breaking". The ONLY product I've had massive issues with is their RGB Triangles. Replaced way too many of those.
For their DDR5 ram, had some issues with XMP stability until I actually did some research and learned how to properly set the proper timings in my XMP profile in my BIOS. Once I figured that out, it's been smooth sailing.
Appropriate_Ad7321@reddit
any pointers I'm going through this rn?
Darksirius@reddit
Which part? The shitty triangles or the XMP settings?
Rose_Rasta@reddit
Would definitely like to know what XMP tweaks you did
TennisIntelligent201@reddit
hola, como configuraste la ram para que no te pase,se me crashean todos los juegos a los minutos cuando uso expo o xmp
VariousCustomer5033@reddit
To be fair, is there any RGB software out there that *isn't* criminally shitty? Only one I found that works flawlessly with all my components is SignalRGB, yet it is littered with ads and somehow manages to randomly take 3+ GB of RAM and 10% CPU.
Frankie_T9000@reddit
i hate icue though I do love corsairs hardware. Wish it was more robust.
Fancy_Language5469@reddit
Asrock's Polychrome is pretty good
FiTZnMiCK@reddit
I really like OpenRGB, but device support can be spotty.
CharcoalGreyWolf@reddit
iCUE kills many of the Corsair products I’d purchase, other than power supplies and as you said, maybe cases.
moosMW@reddit
the ddr4 ram is still a great deal. Can't go wrong with 16gb ddr4 3200 ram for €30-40
_MaZ_@reddit
Sucks that QVL for my ASUS MB says Corsair Vengeance is the only tested kit for 2x16 30-36-36-76 6000MHz
Accomplished_Emu_658@reddit
I have had a lot of bad kits. Like a lot. It’s been bad past few years. I have stock of same part number of them so i try individually, then replace set it is crazy a set can be bad but its incredible common lately
anxyxx@reddit
if corsair is bad now, what brands are good now?
_lefthook@reddit
This is the kind of stuff i keep hearing on reddit. So i went kingston instead for my build. Lol
Frankie_T9000@reddit
Mabye Ive been lucky but I have four sticks of dominator in my main system runing at Expo. Its overpriced sure, but its never been bad as far as I know.
Late_Cartographer439@reddit
I've had no issues with my vengeance paired with AM5 but I am only one person lol. Loving it so far.
Jiend@reddit
Bought a 4800 DDR5 kit when I built my new computer in like... 2022? 2023? Can't remember. DDR5 was still not the standard but transitioning to it. A year later I thought why not upgrade to 6000+, bought a kit - bsod all the time. Run memtest86, find a bunch of errors. RMA it, get a replacement, I get excited for a bit as things seem fine.... Then bsod. Run memtest86 again, less errors but still some. I RMA'd it and just gave up, still running my 4800 now. For the little upgrade it provides, not worth the hassle imo. This is all corsair btw (including my 4800 kit).
Fredasa@reddit
Honestly I haven't heard anything one way or the other, but I never miss an opportunity to point out that out of the many dozens of sticks I've bought over the years, I've only had RAM fail on me twice, and those two instances happen to be the only two times I've bought Corsair RAM. Which means I will never buy their RAM again. (Convenient, since they charge a little more than most everyone else.)
So this thread isn't altogether surprising to me.
Yuri_tardeder@reddit
Im not too tech savvy per se, but I read somewhere that if you dont know the difference between 6000 and whatever the higher number is, you probably dont need the higher number. Only people that need it will look for the higher number

I suggest teamgroup instead.

I can't speak on pairing that with the 9950X3D, but I have the Vengeance DDR5-6000 2x16gb CL36 with my 7800X3D and have had literally zero issues with memory. Expo enabled and all.
xCyberAthletex@reddit
Crashes and BSOD only happen when you are using 4 RAM slots and trying to enable XMP. This is a known issue with DDR5 technology in general and is not limited to Crucial. The RAM tech itself has issues when all 4 slots are being used. Stick to two, and enable XMP without hiccups. Besides your CPU also performs better with 2 slots used vs 4. The RAM speed difference between 4 slots and 2 slots is also anywhere between 30%-50%. stick with 2 slots, that's just how this tech is unfortunately.
matpic@reddit
Interesting to read, I've been building computers since late 90's and used Kingston and Corsair a lot. Tried Patriot and ended up replacing it. The only memory that has ever given me issues and most problems was trying G.Skill in the late 2000's. Tried multiple kits and all failed, needed RMA'd and still was junk. Replaced with Corsair and no issues. So I wrote off G.Skill as low quality junk. I've got 2 old desktops one with DDR3 Corsair and 1 with DDR4 Corsair a (14 yrs old and 9 yrs old respectively) and not had a single problem. I hear people talk about how great G.Skill is but I will never touch them again. Guess it's like the old Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge argument, all depends on your experience I guess.
Ander12391@reddit
I had some weird issues with my CL28 6000MT/s Corsair kit when I enabled EXPO in the bios. I was getting random black screens. and POST issues when I enabled EXPO. Issues went away completely when I switched to a CL30 6000MT/s TeamGroup kit.
CrazyStar_@reddit
I had Corsair vengeance sticks for four years with no issues…
Niiphox@reddit
They're talking about DDR5 tho which has been known to be more finicky and "fragile" than DDR4 in general
Nirados@reddit
I have a DDR5 2x16 RGB version and never had any problems last 2 years
Darksirius@reddit
Yup. When I bumped up to 32 Gb DDR5 with them, initially I had issues with stability when enabling XMP. Turns out, I didn't research properly on how to actually pick the correct timings to set in my BIOS. Turns out, you use iCue to create the profile and use that.
Takingbacklives@reddit
Can you elaborate more on the timing and etc? I just purchased this ram and was experimenting with XMP and the game I was playing stuttered while moving the mouse in high pressure situations. It felt like was trying to steer a big boat while moving the mouse.
mckmury@reddit
I'm no expert, but I would start by looking up your CPU specs. They should have it listed somewhere what the max DDR5 speeds are for 2 and 4 sticks. I had a ton of instability issues because when I ran mine with XMP enabled, they were running at 6400MT/s, but the CPU (Ryzen 7 7800x3d) was only capable of 5200MT/s with 2 slots and 3600MT/s with 4 sticks of RAM. In other words, make sure you limit your ram speed to whatever the CPU is capable of.
My problems were very sporadic (blue screen every month or 2, demanding games crashed every now and then), so it took a while for me to figure that out.
Tobysauce@reddit
Ew..I have a 7800x3d and noticed these issues when I had 4 sticks in too but those speeds are so slow, especially for 4 sticks. There's definitely got to be a way to increase speeds.
ovidox@reddit
Corsair is one of the best and most reliable brands for all their products they just cost more than other brands. I do recommend you try buy them on special or at a discount. You only ever hear the negative and bad stories on the internet. The 0.001% complaints which probably related to people over clocking and not checking voltages or thermals. Trust me it's more likely your motherboard doesn't have the ram in QVL than the RAM itself being the issue.
ToxicatedSins@reddit
Same here. 3months, no issues with cl30 6000hz boosted, not even one blue screeb or whatever
Huge-Albatross9284@reddit
I bought Corsair 6000MHz CL30, and it won't post with XMP on. Had to dial speed back to 5600MHz to get it to post. Not great.
Lazyboy002@reddit
For xmp you have to know that the specs are with your cpu and create the memory profile on icue for that
stuyboi888@reddit
Dude would you not have sent this back? RMA

El_Cid_Campi_Doctus@reddit
My Corsair 6000cl30 Corsair ram works perfectly with EXPO. Too bad they're M- Die and can't get past 6200Mhz cl30
Xccccccrsf@reddit
That’s on your cpu, not the Die. Both 16gbit M-Die and 24gb M-Die, and even 32gbit M-Die do 7000+. 24 and 32gb do 9000+. Your IMC limits you to 6200 in that matter. Try 2:1 memory mode and higher should work.
El_Cid_Campi_Doctus@reddit
Nope, even in 2:1 mode and super relaxed timings and sub timings they're unstable past 6200. I can't even lower tRFC below 480, and I know most m die can get below that. Lazy ram, that's all. And it sucks because my CPU does +2200 fclk completely stable, no error corrections.
It's not that bad tho, I have decent latency and r/w speed with the tight timings im using. And the somewhat high fclk compensates the asynchrony.
Xccccccrsf@reddit
Still very weird. I assume you checked on stick for Die? I never encountered something like this except on broken kits. Lower tRFC should work on all Hynix ICs. Yea, maybe really half broken sticks
El_Cid_Campi_Doctus@reddit
tRFC can be way lower in a die than in m die.
I bought them because I was pretty sure 6000cl30 would be a die. But nope, they're m die.
Not worth the effort of replacing them tho. They work well at 6200 with tight timings and gear down mode off.
Xccccccrsf@reddit
Depends, A-Die does lower tRFC than H24M yes, but H16M does like 100 ticks lower. Then there’s the nanya IC, doing even lower. But fair, replacing it wouldn’t be useful.
ryualviss@reddit
het, i have the same problem with mine (16gb 5200-40). so blaming the mobo was all wrong then. :/
Huge-Albatross9284@reddit
I mean this is the whole problem with non-guaranteed XMP/EXPO. idk if it's the mobo, cpu, memory, or some combo of all 3. Wish JEDEC could just standardize better timings/clock as stock.
Darksirius@reddit
I had the same issues with my 7200Mhz chips. Turns out, I didn't select the proper timings in my Bios - which you first need to set in iCue iirc.
Once I got that sorted, it's been smooth sailing.
EggThumbSalad@reddit
Since buying corsair DDR5 ram I have had several issues, bluescreen crashes included. Currently researching warranties on them which brought me here
No_Bluejay_8605@reddit
I use them and I dont have any issues with them. This is the first I even am aware of issues others are having
Dr_Operator@reddit
Can confirm. Every Corsair DDR5 Kit I have purchased has eventually been RMA'd and some of them more than once. I made the mistake of assuming that my extremely good experiences with their DDR4 products would translate over to DDR5 and built three systems in a stretch of a month, followed by purchasing a larger replacement kit for one of them the month after (so 4 Kits in total, two 32GB (2x16) and two 64GB (2x32)). 3 Kits are RGB and one is not.
Luckily I was able to RMA and use the "spare" kit each time a kit failed, so had little overall downtime during the fiasco. It was always one stick in a kit that would fail, but you have to RMA the pair.
2x AMD and one Intel CPUs, ASUS, MSI and ASROCK for the motherboards. I had to play musical chairs with the ram to get the ASROCK motherboard (AMD) system to even boot. I have had RAM fail in each of the systems, and only one of them runs with EXPO enabled due to some ongoing occasional bluescreens that happen if EXPO is enabled on the others. The failures happened without expo being enabled except for my gaming machine.
Eventually bailed on the Corsair ram in my gaming system and went with a GSkill Trident Z5 Kit. Haven't had a corsair kit die in a while now, but seriously having to RMA EVERY kit at least once was painful.

DuckieLou@reddit
As far as I know, there is not a single main brand RAM with current issues related to the specific ram brand. There's no reason to avoid the cheapest option because it's cheap. I have corsair ram, have used corsair vengeance three times before and Kingston one time as well, both DDR4 and DDR5, currently using corsair, because it's cheap at good specs. Just look at the mhz and CL and you are good to go, no brand should matter unless you don't like the design and are going for a sertain look. (corsair are usually grey)
MrEzio@reddit
I got the corsair DDR5 6000Mhz 2x32gb CL30 for my new build after 5 years. Since I was upgrading to a beefy build with a 5090 astral, x870e-e strix MB, 9950X3D and the EVGA 1600W T2 power supply, I really wanted to get a good CL30 6000Mhz (I heard that the 6400Mhz RAMs had a LOT of issues).
At first I was going to get the trident RAM, but it seems like DDR5 Trident has some issues with Strix motherboards so I got the corsair vengeance CL30 6000Mhz 2x32Gb instead. Everything was fine for 4 days ish, until I experience some freezing for 4 seconds in my firefox browser. Then I went to Chrome and it was fine. I thought maybe it was just some random lag or something. IT WAS NOT.
While playing a game, it suddenly froze for over 10 seconds. I thought the game crashed but then it resumed like nothing happened. I knew after this that something was wrong and it definitely was the RAM, cuz there is no way the 5090 would break a sweat with the games I play.
I ran memtest86 and bam bam, got 4 errors on test 8. Returned the rams and got a free remplacement. First thing I did was redo the memtest86 for 4 passes of 13 tests each. All of them passed with 0 errors with the new pair that came. I will retry this test in maybe 2 weeks to make sure they don't have anymore issues.
So yeah in the end, RAMs are like a gamble. But, we have the tools to make sure they are working.
PLEASE! To anyone reading this, go run memtest86 on your rams right now. 4 passes is enough (0 errors! Make sure not a signle one is detected!). No need to do the 14th test as it is not recommended for the majority of people. You bought the RAMs, the least these companies should do is have the decency of selling you a pair that are working like intended...

It all depends on whether they're compatible with the cpu and motherboard you'll be using. You can find that all on the QVL sheet. The only real recommendation when it comes to ram is to find the highest mghz with the lowest cas latency, or if you have amd, you buy the ram that is the speed you need for your infinity cache, typically 6000mhz cl36

What about the dominator titanium?
MntyFresh1@reddit
I've been running Dominator Titanium for a couple months now, and I have to say...fucking hell was it painful to get the system to just work. I have a feeling a lot of the instability was to do with DDR5 itself rather than Corsair, but the constant memory training, weird XMP behavior, not posting with both sticks in at random times etc. I've never had to reseat RAM sticks this often in my life. However, the biggest problem is still iCue. I HATE ICUE SO MUCH.
D33-THREE@reddit
I've never used Corsair RAM on AM4 or AM5.. I don't know that I've ever run their RAM on my 7700k and older setups either.
But it does seem like I see a lot of Corsair kits on setups with dead 9***X3D CPUs.. maybe just because they seem to be a popular brand, I don't know
But I've had good success with GSkill, KingsBank, KLEV and Team Group RAM kits on the 4 x ASRock AM5 setups in my home.. and on 2 other builds I've done (T-CREATE & GSkill)
I know on AM4, Corsair seemed to need a slight voltage bump to be stable in a lot of different builds .. 1.35v with XMP enabled wasn't stable, but 1.36v, 1.37v ...etc .. was
I had an Oloy 3600 CAS 18 DDR 4 kit that was like that too
FranticBronchitis@reddit
Genuine question, could it be that the average memory controller can't do CL28 instead? Or is lower CAS latency not any more stressful to the IMC?
f4ern@reddit
cant say you are wrong. I specifically ask for corsair because of i have a full corsair build. it a 6200 mhz ramstick. Games keep crashing until i reduce it to 6000mhz. I know that am5 didnt play well with above 6000mhz still if i dont have a full corsair build i would have ditched the ram for another.

Anecdotal, but I personally never buy corsair. Always had issues. I have never had to RMA another RAM kit, but I have done a few Corsair Dominators ages ago before I gave up on the brand. I haven't tried it for a while though.
OneEyedFlog@reddit
I think my last adata xpg ddr4 kit was unstable it was 3200 cl16
NG_Tagger@reddit
I'll add on to this, with my experience as well.
It's been hit or miss for me. I've had several Corsair sticks fail on me, but that wasn't even the most annoying thing - stuff fails - then you either RMA or buy something new - simple.
...but their fucking iCUE app is the worst piece of shit I've ever had the (dis)pleasure of having installed.
It failed when updating, so often - couldn't repair it, as the update just randomly decides to delete the .exe and then the repair can't see it "being installed" and uninstalling gives the same result. Only option is going into Windows Safemode and manually removing it - then installing it again after a reboot.
It's fairly common to see threads about this, on the Corsair sub, every time the app gets an update..
On top of that, you get the Corsair services randomly deciding to just not work, so the app doesn't pick up on your installed Corsair products. Actually had to contact their support to get this sorted and they still haven't fixed this issue, and I have to manually stop and start the services every time this happens, after an update (if the update didn't failed like mentioned above).
I'm 100% steering clear of Corsair going forward. I've had way too many issues with them and they software, to ever bother with it again.
Not telling anyone not to pick Corsair - you do you - I'm just not picking them, going forward.
ocedalv@reddit
I've been thorough this so many times it's infuriating. I ended up buying Revo Uninstaller just to deal with this garbage.
They have fixed it recently though, so this no longer happens, thankfully.
NG_Tagger@reddit
I can with certainty say that isn't the case. They might have partially fixed it (or you're just getting lucky? - wasn't a guarantee to happen in the first place), but it's still kicking around.
Still get angry outbursts from buddies that are still using iCUE, when it fucks itself up during updates.. lol
I've long switched everything I had that was Corsair, to other brands, so at least I'm rid of it.
ocedalv@reddit
Yeah, this was not meant as a defense for icue at all. It sucks, and freezes my entire computer every time I turn it on. I regret buying into the RGB hype every time i turn it on.

I used to always buy Corsair, but after the RAM eventually failing in 3 builds over 11 years, I ditched them in 2020. That's on top of receiving DOA modules (either totally non-functional or failed memtest) a couple times.
I've been using G.Skill the past 5 years and I've had zero issues with them.
OneEyedFlog@reddit
My kit of 6000 cl30 was stable. Overclocked it to 6000 cl28 too
MasticationAddict@reddit
CL28 is quite tight at that speed, which can be a bit of a problem if you get unlucky with your motherboard/stick. There are a couple 6000MHz CL28 sticks from Corsair on the QVL for your motherboard, but it can still be a bit of a gamble and can be a bit of a drama manually tweaking it to try and stabilise it
But aside from that, I can't really say they're necessarily not just trying to sell you a more profitable or harder to move stick
HellFireNT@reddit
I'm going the Kingston fury 6000 cl30 route in a few months ! Seems to be highly recommended
SimpleMaintenance433@reddit
Been using Corsaid Vengeance with a 7800x3d for well I'ver a year with no issues, and that's after initially choosing a different brand that caused issues.
Just check the QVL list of the motherboard for certified memory and you'll be fine.
CtrlAltDesolate@reddit
Heard minor gripes but nothing "that unexpected in 2025".
Never had issues with Kingston Fury, so been using them for everything.
Supapeach@reddit
In my experience ddr4 Corsair was pretty great. The ddr5 stuff has been iffy. Go to the mobo website and Asus should have a tested compatibility list for RAM.
fingeringthegoddes@reddit
I'm upgrading to 9800x3d and bought Corsair 6000mts cl 30 64gb kit... hopefully I will be alright.
doubttom@reddit
On a 870 tuf, vengeance was a problem but frankly so is this motherboard. Less problems by using only 2 sticks instead of 4 but there's still issues.
MagicHoops3@reddit
My last two builds have been mostly Corsair. No issues with anything other than the fans having a bit of an annoying hum on my new build.
CJFERNANDES@reddit
I have heard lots of mixed reviews about Corsair RAM. I personally use Kingston and never had an issue with them. That's my go-to brand for RAM.
SectumSempra_138@reddit
My corsair vengeance kit is 32gb 6400mts
All bsod and black screen when running 6000 or above on my pc.
ryualviss@reddit
mine (16gb 5200-40) refuse to boot when xmp is on and it still does that sometimes when xmp is off. i blamed the mobo at first since i thought no way ram is faulty that easily. shouldve choosen other brand :/
ryualviss@reddit
mine (16gb ddr5 5200cl40) refuse to boot when i turn on xmp. but after disabling that, it still happens sometimes so i have to switch slot 2-4 back and forth once in a while.
RealSimplexity@reddit
Its funny you should mention this. If you see this, have a look through my recent post history. i purchased 4 sticks of 16Gb 6000Mhz ram and immediately had an issue with it. I ended up having to return those sticks and i lowered it down to 4 sticks of 5200Mhz.
Once i did that, i have been problem free. Prior to changing it however i would get constant crashing and Memory Q-Code errors if i enabled XMP.
Vile-The-Terrible@reddit
Never had issues with Corsair RAM until I tried to run 4 sticks of DDR5.
Darksirius@reddit
I've heard DDR5 in general doesn't really like to place nice with four sticks. Better to stick to two.
SagaciousZed@reddit
But did you try 4 sticks of DDR5 from an another manufacturer?
ice445@reddit
The only ram I've had that had issues was corsair ddr3 for what that's worth. After a few years I had to lower the timings to stop crashes. New ram fixed it
lincolnbvs@reddit
Curious, I bought a DDR5 5600mhz kit from Corsair and only one stick seems to work. The red dram light is always on when I try to use one of them, no matter the slot, if its both or only one memory, it just doesn't post.
Cagri24@reddit
I use the cl30 rams, CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30, no issues.
Also using the Nautilus black non rgb without issues. I think the issues are with parts which use the icue light.
redone1449@reddit
Its gonna be 2 years soon with my 32gb cl30 6000 kit, running on Expo. Without any issues so far
TheFondler@reddit
The only thing I know about Corsair memory specifically is that they have a tendency to make significant changes to the memory between productions runs that is only indicated by a new version number, rather than model number. That means that the "same" kit from two different production runs can be significantly different, including the included memory chips. The memory chips used in a kit make a very significant difference in timings, performance, and compatibility.
I don't think I've ever heard of a major brand of memory kits actually being categorically inferior or more likely to fail, but if you look up a kit on your motherboard's QVL and version 2.3 with Hynix memory is what was tested, but what you buy happens to be version 2.4 with Samsung memory, it may not work. That's a hypothetical example, and I think most motherboard vendors know that and list the version for Corsair at this point, but it used to be a larger problem.
xRobinShrbatskyx@reddit
I have that same ram kit and I've had no issues whatsoever. I've been playing Oblivion remastered, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dune Awakening beta, and V Rising for hours without any issues. This is on a ASUS STRIX B650E-F, 9800x3d, and a 5090FE.
BeerLeague@reddit
Having worked with a shit ton of different ram over the years, I haven’t seen more or less issues with Corsair than with other notable brands. That said, it’s also generally 10-20% more expensive, so it probably isn’t worth it in that regard.
Astral-lol@reddit
I mean as a technician at a local computer store, we build computers and have to charge a hefty amount for our services because we operate on a small scale and shit takes time. Anyways. DDR5 is high key a nightmare and at the end of the day anything above the official listed speed of the memory controller is an overclock and feels like it just comes down to the silicon lottery. Haven't had any issue with any vendor in particular but 9800x3d controller maxes out at 5600, so we would never recommend or even build a system with higher speed sticks.
Dangerpizzaslice_Z@reddit
corsair = shitty razor, and razor is pretty much shit.
for ram go teamgroup if you want cheap and well kit
_RM78@reddit
My last 3 rigs used Corsair Vengeance.
Currently running Corsair Vengeance 6000/cl30 XMP set, 2x32GB. Ooooh, oh no, an intel set on a AMD build. Not a single issue with 9800x3D and MSI MPG B850 EDGE. I simply set the XMP profile and all is great. These have tighter timings than the EXPO set too.
YMMV.
xevdi@reddit
Had issues in the past. These days I get either Teamgroup or Gskill
ecktt@reddit
After dealing with a few dozens of custom AMD systems, most of the time people get DDR5 that was simply not EXPO certified. For whatever reasons motherboard just let you enable XMP as EXPO. It passes a memory test and leaves the system wonkie AF.
Since all RAM is only made by a few manufacturers, I cannot see how CORSAIR memory sticks would be bad unless they received a batch of defective chips.

OP,
recently built a 9950X3D after switching over from intel. 5090FE, gigabyte aorus x870, and that Corsair RAM. No blue screens but I have noticed issues and thinking of switching to g skill
DramaPurple377@reddit
I have always used Corsair Ram ever since my 1st Ddr3 build. I currently have some ddr5, the rgb side of it is a bit buggy, but apart from that, I have had no problems.
dsocohen@reddit
Personal anecdote:
My last full build with DDR5 has been up and running for about 2.5 years now. In that build, I’ve ran Dominator Platinum and Titanium kits.
Stock speeds are reliable; however, XMP speeds have been unstable. The result is mostly in- game crashes.
I can stabilize kits (verifying with Memtest86) just under their rated XMP speeds using a MSi’s Memory Try it and just live with it. There’s no real world difference between the rated 7200 MT/s and what I’ve stabilized to, which is 7000 MT/s. The kit is also a 48 GB kit, which is a bit non-traditional size wise. Each stick runs three 8 GB modules instead of the two 8 GB modules you might find on a 16GB DIMM.
GetChopped@reddit
Haven’t had issues with my DDR4 or 5 kits
blu3cliff750@reddit
I'm a bit biased, but I've never had issues with any kind of Corsair RAM. I've been using a Vengeance DDR5-6000 kit (2x16GB) for months now with no problems whatsoever on EXPO.
The one thing I made sure of was checking that my RAM kit was on my motherboard's QVL list and seeing the supported speed that it can run at is listed. I would recommend checking if that kit is listed for your ASUS board.
Romegotti@reddit
I only buy Corsair keyboards and mice. Everything in my experience from them has been really bad. One of my close friends thought it’d be neat to have an entire build of Corsair. It caught on fire. Not joking . But the Corsair scimitar mouse I cannot stop re buying it
insoul8@reddit
I’ve had problems with Corsair on multiple occasions. I now always go with Gskill and haven’t had any issues since switching.
ivyivy69@reddit
More anecdotal, the Corsair ram I’ve had has either died, or had the lights on them turn to shit. I stopped buying their ram. Personally I’d skip it but I know some people like it.
Jeep-Eep@reddit
See if he's got some Gskill, that warranty and build is exquisite.
dominator_dwarf@reddit
Is it only the 6000 MHz ones that have issues? I have the 5200 MHz and they've been fine for two years so far.
MarxistMan13@reddit
At those low speeds you're unlikely to run into any stability issues.
doublea94@reddit
Been using Corsair ram on multiple PCs since 2017. Never had any issues so far. I tend to trust them more than other brands based on my experience.
sob727@reddit
Anecdotal, but I have the Corsair 4x48GB 5200 and it's been working super well.
ggstocks87@reddit
Lots of motherboards need Bios updates to fix ram stability. I've had a lot of issues with other brands too, just need to update and find a sweet spot for speeds etc.
DiggingNoMore@reddit
I'm using Corsair Vengeance 2x48GB DDR5-6000 CL30 and haven't had any issues.
PoppaMeth@reddit
I've generally had good luck with Corsair PSUs and cases. Used plenty of their DDR4 RAM without issue as well. There AIO coolers were also solid when I used them, but that's been a decade ago and there are better options for the money now. G.Skill is another brand I always has good luck with for RAM and Kingston has also been solid. Kingston has started to be my preferred brand at the moment because the use mostly Hynix chips, which work a little better with AM5, though that only matters if you are really pushing for the best timings you can get.
steffeo@reddit
Well who knows? Ive been using Corsair vengeance the last 10years, and I have a kit in my new build, always been happy. Xmp did enable settings that some older am4 cpus could not run, but think that’s ironed out now.
sharkyzarous@reddit
im happy with my lancer kit, no problem so far, i don't manually tune tho only expo.
hollow_dragon@reddit
Sounds kind of anecdotal to me, but could possibly have a hint of truth, as DDR5 in general is a little more tricky than DDR4.
Though I have personally had 2 Vengeance RGB sticks in my system for the last several months with no issues being the fault of the ram.
_TheDrizzle@reddit
I bought a 6400 kit that I had to dumb down to 6000 sure to blue screens and random crashes. Mem86 test always failed on test 5 and summer random other ones. Stable at 6000
l1qq@reddit
Just did 2 builds with Corsair DDR5 without issue with expo etc. There's about 20-30 hours runtime on each machine though so it's too early to tell.
bonjurkes@reddit
What he offers doesn’t matter. You should only buy RAM sticks that is compatible with your Mobo, and for that you should check your mobo’s website, not RAM’s.
Stick to dual kits, not 1 or 4 sticks. And buy what is supported.
I bought X870E Tomahawk and the specific Corsair model I wanted (CL30 6000 MTS) wasn’t supported on mobo’s website. Some people had issues with that RAM and some not.
But at the end of the day mobo brand just tells you to try different sticks. And they don’t offer much help if your RAM is not in compatibility list.
Just buy CL30 with Expo supported and call it a day.
Cpt_Sandur@reddit
The only part in your PC you want to be Corsair is the PSU
waffle_0405@reddit
Lots of anecdotes already but I’ll add another- I’ve had issues with Corsair ram but no one else on ddr5, and they had known problems with their ddr4 kits so it’s not a stretch to say that trend has continued into their current ddr5 kits, if they’re enough cheaper I’d take the gamble but if it’s for the sake of like $10-15 I’d go buy from another brand
heavy-minium@reddit
Smells like a case that could be true, but also solved easily with BIOS update.
Usually, the overall brand of the memory module doesn't matter as much as the brand of the chip on that module. There are only like 3-5 manufacturers for those chips. Sometimes, a middle-priced RAM can perform just as well as the top premium brands, and vice versa.
Because you are getting a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, I wouldn't obsess so much about the RAM because it's a CPU with such a large cache that it usually mitigates any performance differences between ram modules, which results in benchmark giving very similar results with only like 1-2% improvement at best.
water1126@reddit
It's on the compatibility list on the official asus website
https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x870-a-gaming-wifi/helpdesk_qvl_memory/
Under CMK32GX5M2B6000Z28(Ver 5.43.01)
Check if that's the exact ram, but yeah those lower timing stuff can get fucky, so the ideal case is you find someone with the exact mbo and ram and check with them, but the cpu also plays a part. One thing to note is that the x3d cpus are less influenced by ram timings due to their pre memory access, so the 28 might not matter that much. In any case you're dealing with very high end components so obviously you wanna get the best thing. Corsair is overall more reputable than lancer, a data or whatever, dont like icue software but its a better brand and the ram is nicer aesthetically, so if it's a gamble, maybe consider corsair 6000 cl30, that cannot have issues.
