I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Top Gun, but I liked the second one well enough. It was cool seeing it in IMAX.
It was kinda fucked up that Maverick kept making cancer jokes to Iceman via text, and even had Iceman saved in his phone under the name Cancerman. Specifically, I thought the one scene that Val Kilmer was actually on screen with Tom Cruise was a little much. You know, where Maverick suggests that Iceman got throat cancer from blowing dudes behind a gas station. I thought that was in poor taste.
Other than that, or maybe because of that, it was a good movie.
I didn't like that the second movie was basically the US military saying how fun it would be to bomb iran and that there would be no larger consequences at all.
It's actually insane that it ends in a bunch of mugging for the camera and not "US Preemptive Strike Starts US-Iran War"
he got promoted because since 1986 zillions of Heartland hotrodders have enlisted, then found out you have to go to college first and not flunk that then you can go to plane driver school but that's OK they're heroes now 💀
