Bc you can get them in various barrel lengths and cartridges like 35 whelen, 338 win mag, etc. I like my Tikka, but they don't solve all problems. Want a 24-26" barrel, FU. Want a cartridge that isn't trendy or already popular, FU. Have to buy a Sako for that. And that's a very different price point

Well, that's a pretty significant difference as it relates to rifles, isn't it? I usually don't say I want that rifle. I say I want that cartridge, let's see who chambers for it. But since I can tell your partial to Tikka, I think the manufacturing at Tikka is probably much more consistent; variances/tolerances aren't potentially as wide. I have a SS Tikka in 308, great gun; it looks like something I bought at Walmart though. Now, I'm not an MOA shooter, but I'm pretty good. My Hawkeye shoots every bit as good out to 250, and it's just a nicer rifle. And Ruger customer service is top notch. Paid $675 for my Tikka (Cabela's price matches if you didn't know + another 5% off if you get their CC), paid $1400 for my limited-run Hawkeye. I'd do again. That's my 2 cents

That’s what I thought. At 1k they have fierce competitors, why would I ever choose a ruger at 1k? Competitors with better fit and finish, value to customer, better performance as well.

Give me some examples on better fit and finish at this price. One thing Ruger has going for it is a solid action. It feels like a real gun, so many newer production rifles have wimpy actions

Tikka and browning maybe, I’ve never checked out the franchi. The other two are accurate but feel like their made from stamped sheet metal

I do realize that Beretta owns tikka and franchi? My Frenchi affinity shotgun is made at the same assembly line benelli is. Franchi momentum bolt actions are made in Italy with hold hammer forged barrels. Things shoot lights out and feel 10x smoother than a savage or ruger. If you haven’t had a chance to shoot one, you’re missing out. As to browning and howa, not sure which you’ve handled. The ones I have are amazing. Lock up was smooth, no bolt slip, finishing was strong and even. I’ll take a Japanese finished firearm over an American one if shotguns and bolt action.

Honestly, I have no idea why you’d choose a Ruger at any price point. Hell, the Ruger American is way outclassed by Howa/Weatherby at the $500ish mark. I see no reason to ever go Ruger. The pistols are another awful story. Will say tho, 10/22’s and MK5’s aren’t bad.

I have to agree besides the mark series and the 1022 and the LCP. The mini 14 for nostalgia. I don’t see why I would ever buy any other product. At the value price points savage has them beat by a big margin. The middle prices you already covered. At the 1k++ they can’t hold a candle to the competition.
