Guns aren't the problem. It's the culture around them. With guns gone, it will be something else. There are plenty of other nations with very lax gun laws. Czech Republic has some of the highest conceal and carry per capita in the world. Yet people don't really pull out guns in the middle of a supermarket. Part of the American gun culture is this idea that social responsibility is a bad thing. That thinking about others is a bad thing. This is also known as the *'I've got mine'* attitude. That's the problem with guns in America, not guns themselves (plus the lack of wide spread gun licenses).

>Yet people don't really pull out guns in the middle of a supermarket. Well no but they do happen in other places https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uhersk%C3%BD_Brod_shooting https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostrava_hospital_attack

The amount of mass shootings in other countries is microscopic compared to the US. Other countries also have national firearms licenses, which the US should bring in as well.

Czechia doesn't

Czech Republic requires a firearms licence.

I’m going by what is documented online.

Nope. Guns are far from the only reason that the US is basically a 2nd world country.

There is no such thing as second world country... Well, anymore that is

Why are you lurking on year old posts

Because the mods are stupid and don't archive posts

Just sticking up for American a bit here - the things people are complaining about are learned from Reddit and a bit skewed. It absolutely sucks to be poor in America. But if you have a decent job - you will do just fine. The vast majority of professional jobs, union jobs or government jobs have paid vacation, paid sick leave, and decent to very good health and dental coverage. Wholly agreed you’d never want to be poor - but the reality is you can’t immigrate as a poor person anyway

You've kind of summed up what all the comments are saying though. Just be well off. Otherwise it's shit.

I mean, you could quite literally say the same thing about anywhere including the UK.

I'd really consider it, US housing is much cheaper than the UK. Healthcare covered by having money. Still be surrounded by Americans though. Its a hard sell against Spain, Thailand or Costa Rica

Have you spent time around Spaniards?
View on Reddit #5847379

FamousWorth@reddit

Yes, although I haven't lived with them. They tend to have a bad reputation in south America but many people here marry Spaniards and move there.

Fairfield county, CT. I was raised in CT, but not Fairfield county. It’s one of the richest counties in the country. I wasn’t rich to live there, but I had a good stereotypical New England upbringing of private schools, suburbs, and outdoors. I moved to the UK at 22. I love the UK. Life is easier here day to day, especially with regards to healthcare and I feel that money goes further. But sometimes I definitely miss the space and the openness that came from being in the northeast US. If I was rich enough to not worry about healthcare and be able to afford a house, I would love to be back over there. And I would say guns would have to be outlawed. I lived 20 minutes from Sandy Hook in 2012 and I was in school at the time. That’s when I realized gun control isn’t enough and America doesn’t care.

The only appealing thing about the US is the scenery. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, pacific coast drive etc. Other than that I can’t think of a single season why anyone would choose to live there.

Canada and the US are literally so similar that if you were dropped in either one at random the average person wouldn't even be able to tell the difference.

No, I wouldn’t. Lack of proper healthcare would be the no 1 reason I wouldn’t. I find it terrifying that even 1 minor illness could ruin my family’s life, let alone something bigger and worse such as cancer. I think workers are undervalued and underpaid and as a single mother who hasn’t worked because I’m raising my children, I don’t know how I’d finance my life. Also, and I appreciate this does not apply to all Americans, but I find some so ignorant and convinced of how superior they are, I don’t think I could bear it. Though I do look at remote places and think how beautiful and serene they are and think how lovely it would be to live there.

No chance. I like a lot about American culture, particularly sports, but I’ve always said I’d never ever live there. It’s the political culture and the race relations for me. As bad as it can get here, US politics is on a level of crazy that I absolutely cannot deal with and I have zero interest in raising children who would be exposed to the police forces there.

The problem with america isnt guns, the problem with america is theres too many americans there. What attracts me most to america is the natural beauty that can be seen, but that's being eroded real fuckin' quick.

God no! I've visited a few times, and it has a lot going for it, but I couldn't stand the problems on a permanent basis. The inequality is even worse than London (where I live). I'd be afraid of going bankrupt if I had even a minor health condition. The education system is so bad 7% of Americans think chocolate milk comes from brown cows (I don't have the source for that data, but it was a funnier illustration of some of the dark shit a large % of them do believe to be true)! The food is full of nasties, even if you're cooking everything for yourself. Even the organic standards are lower. Tap water standards are also very poor in some locations. The partisan politics would drive me crazy.
