Why is everyone here so grumpy?

Every post is downvoted into zero for asking a simple question, every interaction is someone not understanding a joke and/or having a really shitty responses. Someone will ask a question and you can answer it just to get downvoted and met with a grumpy response. I'm not from the UK, I just live here and it makes me feel like the stigma around you being always depressed rings true.

I don't understand what your last paragraph is saying. Are you saying British people are known for being depressed? It's a large subreddit and people can be pithy. It's really not that deep but perhaps it feel a significant to you because you haven't got much irl connections yet ? Maybe it's better to find local community. This is just a silly forum for chitchat.

Yeah Reddit can be so miserable and mind numbingly pedantic. If you put down your phone or get away from your computer you’ll quickly realise that most people are fairly decent and are just trying to get by in life. I feel like everything is blown up to ridiculous levels on here.

Do you mean this subreddit? Or the UK in general. Reddit is grumpy in most subreddits. The UK also has many downsides to it that can make people grumpy, but generally i think grumpiness and sarcasm is ingrained in our humour and personalities anyway.

There’s grumpy people everywhere but also the economic and political state of the UK right now seems very bleak. I think that leads people, more than ever, to become cynical and grumpy with others.
