reddit_understoodit@reddit
Is it pizza crust with sprinkles?
Lord_Phoenix95@reddit
Yes. Where I live there's another place that does use excess pizza dough to make their desserts from and they sell calsones and dessert pizza
reddit_understoodit@reddit
No judgement. I usually pig out on the savory pizza and am too full to explore dessert.
Adjective_Noun-420@reddit
Pizza express used to do a desert calzone that was filled with chocolate sauce and bananas. It fucking slapped
1egg_4u@reddit
Im gonna out myself as that freak that likes those pizza dough desserts
Theyre denser and less sweet and I know I have bad taste :')
Lowlife_Of_The_Party@reddit
Yeah at the pizza place I used to work at, the same dough was used for the pizza, garlic knots/sticks, and the dessert sticks, I assumed that was the case for most pizza joints
Chicago_Blackhawks@reddit
I’d be hard pressed to find a pizza place that doesn’t
claymir@reddit
A calzone with icecream sounds very nice ngl

They're called Wise guise here.
CarmenxXxWaldo@reddit
Im sure you could fry pizza dough and make a donut. But after having the dominoes tots I decided places should not serve fried food if they don't have a fryer.
Common_Vagrant@reddit
Their chicken is also disgusting too
alanaisalive@reddit
Dominos wings are pathetic and disappointing. I tried them exactly once.
FloopsFooglies@reddit
pizza hut wings are good. not sure about dominoes as i avoid them

No. No it’s not
It’s made using doughnut dough mix separate from pizza dough mix that gets used

Whenever you see Dominos advertise anything, keep at the front of your mind: Dominos does not have a deep fryer (in my country at least. Can't swear on every country). When they advertise french fries, they're going to be disappointing oven fries. Their chicken wings are baked, not fried. Anything with dough is going in an oven. Remember that anything that is traditionally fried will be disappointing and you could do it just as well in your own oven.
Achaeminuz@reddit
Everything is crap at Dominos. No surprise
The_Homestarmy@reddit
Honestly for how cheap their shit is with deals, they're fine. I'd rather eat Dominos than like a million other shitty chains
Level_Solid_8501@reddit
Domino's is cheap?
In Europe it's expensive as hell compared to pizza made in actual Italian restaurants.
NextStopGallifrey@reddit
I'd definitely rather have Domino's vs. Papa John's. Had a relative that would insist on Papa John's whenever we ordered pizza. It was always undercooked and with obviously canned ingredients for like $30/pizza. I could get similar quality (but actually cooked and the mushrooms weren't canned) from the local Domino's for $5-10 per pizza. I don't wanna pay gourmet prices for a sub-standard pizza.
AxeSpez@reddit
What the hell is Domino's sausage though? It's like spongy peppered tofu.
Other than that, I just wish Domino's had a little nicer quality cheese.
Runic45@reddit
It’s cause it’s frozen rock solid cubes lol, I work there
NextStopGallifrey@reddit
Back in the day, it was a decent quality (if cheap) meat that didn't taste like that. It was never the best, but the price/quality ratio made it the best delivery pizza.
savemymemes@reddit
Back in the day, there was a general business discount code for PJs that would get you 50% everything at menu price; it wasn't monitored or tracked in any regard, so I ordered a shitload of discounted pizza.
I guess word spread to far, because eventually they discontinued the code, and now I just can't fathom spending that much money on their pizza.
NextStopGallifrey@reddit
I used that as much as possible when I had to order from them. But $15/pizza was still way too much for what the local PJs would bring.
QueezyF@reddit
It’s a $10 pizza at best.
radda@reddit
Eh their sandwiches are alright
The breadbowl pasta ruled but I don't think they do the breadbowls anymore
spootypuff@reddit
It’s like ordering pizza from subway. Never a good idea.
glovato1@reddit
The worst of all the major pizza chains imo.
alextheruby@reddit
Nah that’s papa John’s
mlorusso4@reddit
Papa John’s is still the best cold pizza out there of the major chains. Just pull it out of the fridge and eat
ModernistGames@reddit
It's probably common to have leftover Papa Johns because no one wants to eat it fresh.
colonels1020@reddit
QueezyF@reddit
Pizza Hut is pretty fucking foul. You might as well just get a $5 frozen pizza at the store, same shit.
Illustrious_Way_5732@reddit
Nah it's fine for the price, 8-10 dollars for a large pizza that's not half bad is a decent deal. By far the best pizza chain pizza
alextheruby@reddit
Nah it’s cool for chain pizza. And the only place that still does garlic crust
LizagnaG@reddit
Their chocolate lava cakes are so gooood
Sargash@reddit
I resent this! Mostly because dominoes probably has the widest range of absolute shit to pretty damn good out of all the chains
TeamTLWTrilll@reddit
Is that fucking pizza crust?

ResearchWise3593@reddit
There’s a donut shop by me in Portland, OR that’s been doing a savory doughnut in their monthly lineups. They’re fantastic.
Also not on the lines of donuts, but if you haven’t tried savory type pastries from a bakery then you should definitely check those out too!

Reinstateswordduels@reddit
Food truck in DC used to do a fried chicken sandwich between two savory old bay donuts with bacon, cheese, sriracha aioli, and coleslaw. Fucking amazing
NiobiumThorn@reddit
A lot of food trucks are just like "$15 hot dog fuck you" but sometimes they really really hit the spot
Like the fact that $15 hot dog is wrapped in bacon, cream cheese, and topped with caramelized onions
Luci-Noir@reddit
I think that’s called a Sonoran dog.
livin4donuts@reddit
My local food truck sells exactly that, or you can get beans, onions, tomatoes, cheese, mayo ketchup mustard and jalapenos. Both versions are $5.
NetworkingJesus@reddit
Sometimes they go out of their way to not just be mediocre, but outright awful. I got a hot dog once from a guy that looked like he was grilling them up fresh. Except it turned out that after grilling them, he must have been letting em all sit in a pot of warm water or something and serving from that instead of the grill. I made the mistake of not watching after I ordered or looking in the bag until I got back to my own vending tent. The bun was absolutely soaked like turned to mush soggy. Not a little damp from being steamed, completely inedible. The dog itself was barely edible. And the worst part was I couldn't leave my booth again to go back and complain.
NiobiumThorn@reddit
...
...
...
...
... how do you fuck up a hot dog so badly even, it's so simple
NetworkingJesus@reddit
My thoughts exactly. Like I never thought I'd need to watch someone make a hotdog. You really gotta go out of your way to fuck it up that bad.
NiobiumThorn@reddit
You can make a perfectly acceptable boiled hot dog...
NetworkingJesus@reddit
Right!? All ya gotta do is not dunk the bun in the water
femaletrouble@reddit
Caramelized onions is an excellent way to trick me into spending $15 on a hot dog -- or anything else, really.
NiobiumThorn@reddit
They also pull that ... dirty, stupid, extremely effective trick: blast incredible smells around a 3 city block radius. Being hungry and smelling them destroys your resolve
femaletrouble@reddit
It's all psyops, baby. All Jedi mind tricks.
NiobiumThorn@reddit
There is a $2 hot dog nearby so I'd say yes
femaletrouble@reddit
Oh, my god. That sounds stupid good, holy shit.
NiobiumThorn@reddit
I think an oft overlooked form of sweet savory combo is the herbacious and delicately flavored variety. Let's give that doughnut some rosemary infused browned butter buttercream. Or a delicate touch of lavender and thyme
femaletrouble@reddit
I think in general I'm having a hard time remembering what I've had with this kind of flavor profile. It's super intriguing, though, and I for sure would try this kind of thing.
NiobiumThorn@reddit
So my favorite example are these rosemary shortbreads by Chef John, you can see either video form or text form how to make them. They're very delicious, and they also last for a long time at room temp [in theory]
femaletrouble@reddit
Yeah, I'm definitely saving this comment, thankyouverymuch. 🤤🤌
NiobiumThorn@reddit
Happy baking, they'll turn out awsome:)
Seriously they're so easy you almost can't fail
yreffejeerf@reddit
Maple bacon called!
femaletrouble@reddit
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about.🤤
Lowlife_Of_The_Party@reddit
Yeah I'd definitely try one. Not this one, pretty obviously, but I can get behind a savory donut for sure
TheRealDLH@reddit
I love My Nana's brand corn tortilla chips. About ten or so years ago I went into a grocery store that had some by the deli in a clear bag. Rather than the white paper bags found in the chips and snacks aisle. I think they were cheaper than normal and the thought of them being made relatively fresh on site was enough temptation. (You actually can buy fresh tortillas at some stores here, like Food City and some ranch markets, but it kinda depends on location).
My Nana's also sells uncooked flour tortillas too. Presumably they also distribute corn tortilla chip bases to stores for use in the deli. As these were in fact fried on location. In the donut fryer oil. They were actually kind enough to put that in the ingredients. Only in the ingredients. There was nothing else on the packaging to hint that you're going to get an oddly sweet undertone when eating chips and salsa later that night.
I should say that My Nana's does also sell flour bunuelos in the bakery section. And these chips would make a good corn base for something similar. However these were not marketed as bunuelos or even adjacent. I'm guessing it was just this store being complacent and covering their asses when they printed the labels.
This was a Bashas btw. A store only Arizonan's know. Couldn't say if it was common at other stores.
PenisProstate@reddit
Weirdly, the burnt pepperoni flavor doesn't seem to make it into their desserts despite going through the same conveyor belt ovens, often at the same time.
Source: Worked at Domino's through most of college, and again a few years later when I needed some income between jobs. Was better than working fast food because there were no deep fryers lol.
anonymous_subroutine@reddit
That's good to know but I'm not convinced. I'm a supertaster and the cookies from one of the local grocery store bakeries taste like bread to me.
ComfortableDoor6206@reddit

Am I the only one who things the real thing looks more appetizing? I wouldn't eat either one but the ad looks terrible, and the real thing looks like frosted pizza which is edible in some reality where diabetes doesn't loom over us.

iatepants@reddit
Had one yesterday, looked awful but tasted pretty good tbh. But I'm also a fat slob so maybe my tastes shouldn't be used as a benchmark.

If it’s the same icing they use for cinnamon bread, I’m not against it. I love that shit.
Roscoe_P_Trolltrain@reddit
On the contrary, if you thought it was bad, it must be really bad, no?
Faptasmic@reddit
They both look like absolute shit
greengreengreen316@reddit
“Donut” lol. Still looks better than the rice cake abominations I saw yesterday.
FadedAlienXO@reddit
I ordered one once and was like lmfao what the fuck is this bro! Never again. I'm actually so convinced dominos just keeps coming up with ways to reinvent icing and or chocolate sauce and dough.
The lava pots are just dough and chocolate sauce. The doughnut is dough and icing. The cookie dough stuffed cinnamon bread? You guessed it, dough and icing, with what looks like a smashed up lava cake wedged inbetween.
I can't wait for their next release, "eclairs" that is really just a chocolate iced dougnut log of dough if I had to guess.

Back when I worked there, HQ came up with the shittiest recipes that they tried once in their shitty office kitchen without taking delivery/pick up time on a shitty heat rack into consideration. We were supposed to make that shit under 3 minutes. It wasn't supposed to rest on the heat rack for more than a minute. Our drivers weren't allowed to have a higher delivery time than at max 30 minutes. Some stores even had 15. All with like, what, five drivers during the rush? It was impossible.
The things we had to make were sometimes unable to be done in under 3 minutes, esp crap like this, the dominator, etc. I was one of the fastest people in my country and participated in competitions (3 XXL pizzas in under 40 seconds) and yet, this kind of crap didn't work. And then customers were disappointed. I mean we're people with shitty recipes and terrible rules.
God, I am so glad I left this business a long time ago.

Domino’s sucks absolute balls, I don’t know if I’ve eaten there willingly at any point in the last 5 years. Everything on their menu is borderline inedible, even the pizza goes radioactive after leaving it in the fridge for 12+ hrs. It’s a shame too, they used to be pretty decent
livin4donuts@reddit

Donuts, despite their common appearance, are surprising tricky to get right and require some specialized equipment to produce commercially. Don’t expect to get a real donut from anywhere that isn’t a donut shop. You got a baked dough circle with goop on it.
