I never realized how overtly feminine The Dude's wallpaper is

This whole film, all the characters, it’s about sexual tension & sexual power plays. Walter is still controlled by his X. All the Dude ever wanted was his rug, his special lady friend. But then he’s too afraid to commit, he’s only helping her to conceive. You see it yourself. Walter’s the Alpha, Donnie’s the feminine one. It’s all part of the Dudes oedipus complex. They are both figments of the Dudes psyche. The nihilist are wild chaos, random occurrences in the universe that play you from one side to the other. They don’t really exist they’re life happening and the Dude has to navigate the problems as they arise. The flying carpet makes it easy for the Dude to escape his problems. For Maude the giant scissors represent her ability to cut her ties from her family that she doesn’t respect and feels are below her. Truth be told, she’s no better than, she doesn’t want her child to have a father. She feels she’s better than everyone else just like TBL thinks he is smarter than everyone else and can swindle Maude out of her mother’s money. I’m thinking that to the Dude the giant scissors represent or are associated to TBL. Maude wants to cut her ties to the family but to the Dude they represent the problems and threat that the Lebowski family has brought him. The Dude is afraid his Johnson will be cut off because he can’t deliver the money to either TBL or the nihilists.
