Tbh it's just post ironic language evolution. It's only happening cause YouTube and Tiktok started filtering words like kill out, and so people used unalive to bypass the censors, and then people started using it before kill as an ironic mocking of content algorithms, and now we're just comming full circle to the language evolving to make unalive a real word without ironic connotations.

We only have unalive now because content algorithms pushed people into not being able to say dead and kill.

It started from TikTok. Words like kill, suicide, murder, etc. are not “advertiser friendly,” so people started using unalive, unalive themselves, etc. to get around the filters to be eligible to make money from their posts. It’s just made its way around the Internet since.
