Should we travel or buy a home?

Honest answer: You won’t regret travelling in the long term, but you will in the short term (5/10 years) You are in the best position you will ever be now (health, financial and time) to buy a property and more importantly start a family. When you come back if things stay the way they do (which is likely) you both will struggle to get jobs, might need to take a pay cut and start building your live from scratch. By the time you have the same amount of money and are in a position to buy a property and start a family you might be in your mid thirties. And for some people at this point the boat has sailed (fertility wise). That being said this would be the journey of a lifetime and you would take a huge gamble on how quickly you could recover from time off in this sense. You would also be older parents which means, and excuse my morbidity, you will have less time with your child. As you probably gathered from my post, I am very risk averse, that being said all my decisions have paid off and I would be doing what you’re planning to do but I’ll be hopefully in my early and my hubby in his mid 50s. There is no right or wrong answer. However, taking this time will change the outcome of your life short term. What I can say is I would still do it, but I would start working on the baby when you come back, like stat, not worrying about having a house first.
