Should we travel or buy a home?

Hello! But of a long one but here it is. I’m a 31yo male and my girlfriend is 28. We’ve been saving up for around 4 years extremely strictly, no partying or holidays etc for a specific purpose of travelling South America for 6 months, then going to Australia to work for a year before deciding where we want to settle down. We should have about 80k saved between us before we go so we’re planning on still having plenty left for a house deposit afterwards which was part of our plan. Now that it’s getting closer to our departure date I’m starting to get cold feet about the whole travel situation and taking essentially a year and a half career break, I’m worried this is going to have a negative impact on finding a job afterwards. We also want to start a family after this chapter of our lives and I’m concerned about how long it’s going to take to feel settled enough to do so after all this. So I guess my question is should we buy a home and save that extra money we will have to put towards having a family, or stick to the original plan and go on and adventure of a life time before we settle down and buy? I know this is a good position to be in as either option is going to be exciting. Thanks for any advice!
