Just bought this used e-bike on fb marketplace… hopefully I didn’t get scammed.

Like I said just bought one of those used off Facebook marketplace. Have never really ridden bikes before this but figured what the hell. I bought it used for $850 and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s probably a Chinese made bike. Have I been scammed? Will it last me a while? What do people with more experience think?

Did they hand over an actual bike, or just that marketing photo?
If it was just the photo, you got ripped off pretty bad...

No I got the bike just used the photo they had on the website.

This is the same Chineesium crap as Freesky and companies like that. A whole bunch of the cheapest and lowest quality parts haphazardly slapped together in a poor country and shipped to the US. Very shortly you'll find out about the very serious lack of design thought and horrendous quality of parts. Your suspension bushings will fail after 500 miles. Your brake pads will be gone after 300. Your tires will also be bald after 500. You're either going to learn to build bikes, or your fun will be over as soon as it starts.

So basic maintenance that needs to be done on all bikes? lol. OP will be getting nicer parts as they need to be replaced with time. He should be fine. I thought the bike was going to get shipped to him because of the picture he used but he has it on his hands so all good.

Basic maintenance that shouldn't have to be done nearly that often, aside from the suspension bushings. Nylon crap, once they've disintegrated good luck finding any replacements at all. Nobody makes them, so unless you plan on custom designing ball bearing suspension you have a useless pile of dangerous junk that rattles down the road.

Also, don’t let the “made in china” ruin it, mostly everything is made there because it’s cheaper… alot of companied make their products there and put it together in the US just so they can say it was “assembled in the U.S” lol..

So you just bought a random bike off marketplace without any knowledge or research into it?
stormdelta@reddit
I can't believe how many people on this sub are willing to buy from insanely sketchy social media marketplaces and worse. Like... I know some people are bad with money and risk assessment but wow.
Papirosie_@reddit (OP)
I mean I watched some YouTube videos. It rides super fun but now I just hope it’s last a while.

Do you have the bike in your possession? I hope so, if not, the likelihood of a scam goes up.
