I’m vexed at this point and I just don’t fully understand the cultural… inbetween?

So, I’m 40, and a Canuck. So I fully understand that I’m going to get some mostly US responses from this: which I’m kinda hoping for. I’m lost on why anyone thinks we’re sensitive, or anything other than just pragmatic assholes. We grew up with 70’s and 80’s films, ultra violent, nudity galore, walked into the 90’s with pressing the bar and expanding our knowledge of drugs and just almost a concept that if we plant trees and recycle we can change the world, only to find find out we got fucked by the prior generations and we’re all fucked. We’re at now at the point that we’re the leaders for some of the shit where the boomers and Xers have dropped off. Like, we aren’t whatever woke is, which is what? Common decency and empathy? Who, or what is it that “you couldn’t make Tropic Thunder” today bullshit come from? I don’t feel like it’s us that would ever be offended, we’re literally the transition age of no tech to tech. We control the money and creation. My kids love “old” movies I grew up with.
I’m drunk, Cancukian apology and go fuck yourself.

Mmm, a lot of "you couldn't make stuff today" seems to be older folks being seriously unable to take any critique anymore, and there also being three distinct purity squads younger than us. Those devoted to tearing apart anyone and anything not liberal enough, a parallel one for those not conservative enough, and a third one for some vague moral standards. The last are the sort that would say that only pedophiles date women under 5'2'', which is neither conservative, nor liberal. It's just crazy.
Growing up online instead of adapting to it as we got older has made some young people completely addicted to righteous rage.

Movies are absolute dog water today. Please someone make Tropic Thunder 2.

I remember a change between my (born in 1981) and my younger sister's (born in 1984) age groups. Her elementary and middle school classes began focusing on things like "self esteem" and giving participation awards. Things that were alien to me.
Long story short, I blame the Boomers for coddling the later 80's xenials and making them overly sensitive as some kind of virtue signal.

I don't know if I'm just not high enough, but I don't see the explicit connection between every assertion here, but I feel like I agree with the gist of the point. Or maybe that's my american ignorance coupled with lack of self-awareness, so fuck you too
