PC Crashing After 3080ti to RTX 5090 Upgrade - Need Help Troubleshooting!

I Just upgraded from a 3080ti to a brand new Zotac 5090 AMP Extreme Infinity and my PC is now crashing shortly after logging in. Before installing the 5090, I DDU'd the old drivers and installed the latest GeForce drivers. My other specs: * CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D * RAM: 64GB * PSU: 1000W The PC boots fine, but once I log into Windows, everything becomes incredibly laggy and eventually freezes or crashes completely. I'm suspecting either a PSU issue (though 1000W should be enough, right?) or a problem with the GPU itself. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with a new high-end GPU? Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problem? Thanks in advance for any help!

I had the exact same issue with my Astral 5090 OC in combination with a Dark Power Pro 13 1600W PSU.
I started a thread with my solution:

This solution is only working with be quiet dark power PSUs but it indicates, that PSUs can indead be the problem.
Best,

I mean if swapping the gpu was caused the problem, then I think its the gpu. It may be bnew but there is always that tiny percent you got unlucky. Try switching back the old gpu if problem persists. Thats a start to troubleshoot your problem.

Yeah I swapped back to my old gpu and everything worked fine no problem, it’s just when I plug the 5090

Check windows event log.
Do u have 4 separate cables going to the 5090 or a direct 12vhpr?

I have 4 separate cables going to the 5090, I also tried a direct 12vhpr, and still having the same problem

uh ?
you dont install new driver BEFORE installing new gpu.
reboot in safe mod, launch DDU, clean nvidia drivers with it, reboot, then install 576.15 drivers
