Want to build a gaming PC for wife. Send Help!

Hey all,
I have a Ryzen 7 5800x and a 1080p monitor not being used and would like to build my wife a decent gaming pc under 1k if possible. She loves playing Sims 4 but we also like to play games like Overcooked and games like that so I am wondering what type of card I can get her that won't break the bank and can handle games that aren't insane!
I was looking at a few card with 8gb of VRAM but some were telling me 12gb is the recommended but those prices then skyrocket. Wondering if 12gb is really worth it.
Thanks again!

New, b580. Used like a 2080 or 3070

You can run sims 4, overcooked, plateup, etc on something even 7-8 years old so you don't need to go crazy or anything.
If you want to use the 5800x, go for something like the build below. Feel free to swap the case for whatever your wife likes.
Alternatively, you could sell the 5800x and get a used PC for about $300-350 that'll do the job just as well. That comes with its own risks of course.

5800x is one of the hottest AM4 chips, with all 8 cores on one CCD and a high power limit. Would probably throw a bigger cooler at it than a single tower 120mm air cooler. A Thermalright dual tower, dual fan like the peerless asassin wouldn't be that much more anyway.

This is awesome! Thank you! Is 8gb enough?

I love those vetroo cases for the price too, and you usually get something that looks exactly like something else

Rx 6700XT if you're looking for something cheap, combine with a 750W PSU, mobo and 32GB of ram.
For 1000 you could probably fit a 6800XT or 7800XT, then she will be able to play any game maxed out on a 1080p monitor.

for a build right now in mid 2025 a 12gb card atleast is 100 percent the way to go, options that wont break the bank i guess would be the 6700xt, 6750xt and 7700xt.

At 1080p 8gb is enough as long as you dont play something like indiana jones and the great vram hog. For 12gb you could get the 7700xt, B580 or get the 5060ti 16gb (better than the 2 prev options but costs a decent bit more)
