Is it normal to not remember tv shows and movies as a kid?

Other than character names and what they were like, and maybe one or two scenes I can’t for the love of god remember anything from the tv shows and movies and books and music I watched as a kid until 15 ish years old. Is this normal? I remember researching about it, but I don’t remember anything. I also literally had books on fun facts and was super into space but I don’t remember anything.
When someone makes a reference it’ll fly over my head…

I remember a lot but I suppose TV was my favourite thing as a kid. Not usually in great detail but definitely the names, theme tunes and a few things or characters from them. Obviously anything that was taped and repeatedly watched is more memorable and then as a teenager the comedy shows I watched and have watched many times since are more indelibly imprinted in my memory.

Some people have great memories, some can remember facts (me), some can remember their lives (autobiographical memory - not me), some people just have poor memories all round.
We are all wired differently and it’s no big deal.

I remember facts, figures and technical stuff. Can't remember shit about lots of things I did in the past.

I’m the same, I’ll know things, but can’t say how I know them.

I remember very little of being a child or being at school or well anything like that.
Our memory is a construct and when we remember the past, we are actually applying a framework to do that and so it is never what actually happened.
We have started to understand that some people are literally unable to assign any 'feeling' to the past so if fades more quickly for them...

For me that seems unusual. I’m 47 and I remember a lot from my childhood. I remember jingles on adverts from then because there was no fast forward/skip option, so we just learned them to sing along to. I still remember opening credit songs to tv shows. I remember some specific episodes. I have forgotten some stuff as well but then someone will post something in a nostalgia sub and it will trigger the memory and I’ll start remembering things from it. I’ve even been known to remember a small conversation that happened while watching something, no idea why.
However I can’t remember things as well in the last 10 years. I can be introduced to new people and I’ll have forgotten everyone’s name within 5 minutes. But I can still probably look at an infant or junior school photo and tell you most kids names

How human memory works is really interesting - what you are remembering is the last time you remembered it... your memory of an event can be both "real" and completely wrong.
It is also fairly trivial to get people to discuss their memories of events that never actually happened to them.
The brain is an amazing thing.

TV etc simply isn't a thing you care about as a kid, you just want to be outside playing with your friends, and spend the vast majority of time doing that. I know I watched a bit of the Clangers, Bagpuss etc but was probably so bored by it, it didn't register.
Hasn't changed much come to think of it!
