A $1 bill inside a plastic protective case for vending machine emergencies

Let’s say you’re at a vending machine trying to buy some chips, or in a casino trying to play a game, or any vending machine in general, except it won’t take your wrinkled dollar. Well now you can buy a brand new perfectly straight $1 bill protected by plastic at Dollar Tree for $1.25
Sure you pay a quarter more but now you have a very good chance the machine will take your dollar

Better yet, sell them in vending machines!

I can't think of anything more frustrating than could still be labeled as a minor inconvenience. It's giving mad trickster god energy.

Here in Canada dollar bills stopped being circulated in 1987 and two dollar bills in 1996, they were replaced by coins. It’s very unusual to see a vending machine in Canada that even accepts bills anymore.
TheIronSoldier2@reddit
That just makes it more expensive to make it rain
snakeravencat@reddit
Look, we all know Canada is better. You don't need to rub it in our faces. Lol

You mad bastard
Orangeshowergal@reddit
When’s the last time you went to a vending machine and there was a $1 item?
grudginglyadmitted@reddit
The vending machine outside my local budget grocery store still sells 75¢ cans of soda! Absolutely nothing better than buying a cold can of orange fanta with my change from buying groceries.
Defiant_Print_2114@reddit
It’s only a dollar. Why are you swiping?
Points man. Points. Gotta rack up the points!

The stick of gum at the bottom that no one buys
Grilled-garlic@reddit
Even that’s 1.75 nowadays 😭

I deal with this by ironing all my cash. I don't carry much anymore, but whenever I get the chance, I pull it out of my wallet and iron it flat.

I just keep my dollars in my wallet and that seems to protect them. Use the wrinkly ones for people the nicer ones for machines. Although I don't really use vending machines tbh
Ethan-Wakefield@reddit
This is why we need dollar coins.
Spicyalligator@reddit
My parents- or ahem… the tooth fairy, used to give me a gold dollar coin when I’d lose a tooth
TheManSaidSo@reddit
Never been to the post office have you? They give or used to give change in dollar coins.
Crusher7485@reddit
Nearly all vending machines I’ve used recently will give change with dollar coins if you use a $5 bill or larger to pay.

If you're talking about the US, they have dollar coins. Just nobody uses them.
If you're not talking about the US, I think most countries where a dollar is valuable (ie countries that don't have 10 billion dollar bills) do use dollar coins. I could be wrong about that, but most countries I've been to do at least.
Ok-Flamingo2801@reddit
Or vending machines could have a card option that charges 25% more.
XROOR@reddit
There’s a way to tape a dollar bill so you can insert it, listen for an acknowledgment sound, then pull it back out to get a free pop and/or candy, plus the complement of what wasn’t used.
I learned this at CCD class when I was approached by a peer that had zero interest in St Matthew and his travels, but which floors had vending machines.
He bought a Corolla with the money he stole that year
LegDayLass@reddit
Sure, except there is not a single vending machine selling things for only a dollar nowadays, and most vending machines have a card reader anyway.
No_Clock_6371@reddit
Nothing costs $1 any more
ContextSensitiveGeek@reddit
Who uses cash at vending machines anymore? Tap your card or your phone and let them rip you off like a normal person.
InventorOfCorn@reddit
i don't think i've seen anyone use anything but cash for vending machines.
w1n5t0nM1k3y@reddit
I can't remember the last time I used a vending machine. It's probably been 20 years. I still see them around, but the prices are so high that I can't justify the expense.
nayanshah@reddit
You could make these with leather, for a softer touch. That also allows you to fold in half, easier to carry in your pocket.
CompSci-Fi@reddit
Make it thicker and you can store multiple dollars in there. Add some slots on one side and you can carry credit cards and your id too.
Tongue4aBidet@reddit
They have stores and banks. they exchanged money for nothing. You might be able to pass a fake for tipping less than 25 percent.
