It seemed like almost every teenage girl owned these in the 80s where I lived

These shoes were so comfy.
Do they still make them? Because if so, I’d like to buy a pair.
C-ute-Thulu@reddit
My 21 yo has had multiple pairs
New_Amomongo@reddit
That's what I do not get. Why have multiple same model # and same colorway of sneaker?
Different colorway makes sense, somewhat.
But shoes should last over a decade so long as it doesn't get COVID or get water log damage.
ClockwrkAngel2112@reddit
Ummmm..... Please tell me where I can find sneakers that last over a decade?
TheLakeWitch@reddit
Exactly. The shoes might last but that doesn’t mean they’re still good for your feet.
ClockwrkAngel2112@reddit
As someone who had a knee replacement before I was 30 (birth defect), I wear sneakers 95% of the time. I've even been able to wear all black ones for a friend's wedding (as a bridesmaid) because they knew about my knee. So granted, I probably wear them out faster because they are my "daily drivers".
That said, if I get a l year out of a pair I'm thrilled! Once the cushioning starts to compress I can't wear them. Do I have 10 year old shoes? Probably, but they may have been worn 10x total.
CastellonElectric@reddit
My foot doctor says they last about 6 months maybe a year before the padding wears out. You should have at least 3 pairs to cycle through
TheLakeWitch@reddit
I’m a nurse and when I was still working at the bedside I was replacing my shoes (Brooks or Hokas) every 12 mos. The physical therapist I saw after I broke my foot told me that I should be replacing them sooner and showed me a certain wear pattern I needed to watch for. Even the casual, slip on Vans I wore to my first therapy session were apparently wayyyy past the point of being supportive and I didn’t even realize it. I’d worn them semi-frequently for maybe 4-5 years by then. I definitely have shoes that are 10+ years old but like you said, I’ve not worn them like I wear my work shoes.
New_Amomongo@reddit
Yeah, sneakers can last 10+ years if you barely wear them and store them right (cool, dry, dark place). But even if they look good, the glue and foam usually break down. Most midsoles crumble or the soles fall off after a decade. Wearable life is more like 2–5 years max. Display life? Way longer.
Pink_silv@reddit
Yes, I want to buy some but they don’t come in a size 12. 🥲

They have a 12!!!
Pink_silv@reddit
I’ve only shopped them from Macy’s.
Pink_silv@reddit
Thank You 🫡🥹
melvinmel@reddit
They still have them but they are soo narrow in the toe box though.
ECNV1978@reddit
I loooved mine as a teen and they were so incredibly comfortable!
railmanmatt@reddit
My 19 year old has a pair. She loves them.
bikeonychus@reddit
My mum used to buy these for me, but I hated them because they always rubbed my ankles. I swapped to Vans as soon as I was old enough to have an opinion.
UnkindnessOfRavens23@reddit
We wore them with at least 2 different colors of scrunchie socks to match your outfit.
AndersonButNotCooper@reddit
These Reeboks are some of the sexiest and most underrated shoes ever made and they’re still in production!!
DirtRight9309@reddit
i had them in multi pastel in 2nd grade. you HAD to criss cross the velcro though or you weren’t cool
adelaidepdx@reddit
Them baggy sweat pants and the Reeboks with the straps (with the straps!)
____cire4____@reddit
Busy-Cheesecake-9443@reddit
aren't these the "Reebok with the straps"?? i had them in black in 5th grade and loved them
CharlieTrees916@reddit
Reebok’s are still pretty comfy. I have a pair of re-issued Pumps and a pair of the shoes they made for an Alien Romulus collaboration. Both are more comfy than all the Nikes I wear.
Intelligent_West7128@reddit
The infamous 54.11’s!
Tony_Tanna78@reddit
I remember these being the main aerobics shoes for a long time.
DoctorFenix@reddit
I had a teacher that had every color they made, and she would mix them up.
Blue on the left, yellow on the right, etc..
6millionwaystolive@reddit (OP)
She sounds fun
GrandPipe4@reddit
I didn't own a pair of name-brand shoes until I was probably 20, but I do remember the girls who wore these, in white, pink or black. I always wanted some.
aenflex@reddit
Same.
GoonieMcflyguy@reddit
They look like grandma shoes now. They do look cozy though.
Global-Necessary-377@reddit
I had these. I remember wearing them down so much the soles came off a bit. Was visiting my grandparents one weekend and my grandfather used a glue gun to reattach the bottom. 3rd grade me was mesmerized and horrified. Good sneaks.
doubleUdoubleUthree@reddit
I had the Payless knockoff version. ☹️
peachslicer@reddit
When I got the Payless version I was so stoked I couldn’t stop checking these out on my feet. I felt like I was part of the future.
peachslicer@reddit
Never had a pair but got fake ones (Zebras?) from Payless that I thought were incredible. I still long for a colored pair of these & am intermittently on the lookout.
DasKittySmoosh@reddit
These or the LA Gear high tops
Dangerous_Spring5030@reddit
Now we’re talking! I had several different pairs of LA Gears, but these were my favorite:
DasKittySmoosh@reddit
Oh man, the gills on those things. THAT I forgot about. They were the coolest
BlueSnaggleTooth359@reddit
Wow yeah totally true. I had forgotten how huge they were in the 80s! Totally huge! Reeboks! (Also LA Gear.)
rezerster@reddit
I have these now!
Pippin_the_parrot@reddit
I did not and I’m pretty sure it’s why I was never a cool kid. Woe is me!
justwanttoread123@reddit
... Core memory unlocked. I didn't know I missed those shoes so much. 😭
ECNV1978@reddit
They still sell them!
ECNV1978@reddit
🙋🏻♀️guilty. And I had them in like five different colors. ❤️💛🤍🖤
Ok_Recipe12@reddit
