If you would have told me in 1990 that Robin Williams was going to play Peter Pan as a middle aged man and it would be one of the best movies of our generation, I would have said you were insane. This movie is the perfect example of writing and casting coming together to make magic onscreen.
God. I wanted to be a part of this dinner so badly when I was a little kid. Think at the time this came out I was 11-12, so would have fit right in with all the Lost Boys. Probably the only dream bigger was going to live in Astoria OR and be a Goonie.
This was the first VHS movie we hired that I watched twice, once the night we got it, and again in the morning! With my best mate whom I've been friends with for 40+ years. Can't wait to watch it with my kids when they're a bit older.
I know this is unpopular, but I’ve always hated this movie with the fury of a thousand suns. This frosting scene was literally what crystallized my hate. It’s like a prequel to Idiocracy- they’re eating frosting for dinner and then throw it at each other.
I promise I’m not a curmudgeon. I’ve had a lot of therapy and I still have no clue why this movie and this scene provoke such a strong reaction but here I am. 🤷🏼♀️
this movie was a bridge, between old writers, directors, actors, passing it on to our generation, they used to be young, theyre still young here, but older, hook was a blessing.

Movie is like 15 percent too long and could be edited more coherently but it’s still a good watch and an emotional success

Yeah man, I’m watching it again tonight and having my parents over for dinner.

Watched this with my kids last night. I adore this movie.

I think the thing I like about it the most is that Peter Pan was already a cool story as a kid and this movie made it something even cooler.

100% I have Peter Pan syndrome in a small way. I think I can blame this movie.

I have Robin's final line from this movie tattooed on my forearm - "To live will be an awfully big adventure"

Checking in with Astoria dreams 😭

I was 8 when it came out and saw it in the theatre. It’s been one of my favorite movies ever since.
I also used to watch the Peter Pan cartoon after school before this came out.

I love this movie. This scene was so fun to watch. A food fight with Robin Williams?? Hell yes.
