Give me a break!

"The planet is cooking, the oceans are dying, the air is turning into poison, and somehow the solution we came up with is selling more electric cars. At this point, collapse isn’t a possibility. We are in it. So, from now on, it's gonna be just bad vibes on a long timeline. We aren’t saving the world/society. We’re watching its live streaming funeral."
zedroj@reddit
chat, are we cOoKeD ?😭😭😭😭
Potential-Mammoth-47@reddit (OP)
Since 2015, and cooked cooked not yet but yeah, so sorry!
zedroj@reddit
I was gonna say since late 1800's
glorified oil use and no respect for the environment
Svante Arrhenius called it, and he was born in 1859
Potential-Mammoth-47@reddit (OP)
Well there you have it.
In 2015 was when the change in hot temperatures began to be noticed with concern, but to tell the truth since that year it was too late to make any significant changes and then 2024 was the hottest year since records began to be taken.

Now THESE are some good charts!

Courtesy of Prof. Eliot Jacobson, Leon Simons, Mark Cranfield and NOAA. Shout-out to them!
extinction6@reddit
We may have to get our information from Europe if Trump shuts down NOAA etc. America may only be producing "Sharpie Charts" in the near future.
Cultural-Answer-321@reddit
Pretty sure it's going to be childrens' books about Big Brother Oil.
Oh wait... those already exist. 😞
Potential-Mammoth-47@reddit (OP)
That's right, will be a shame if that happens. They would say something like "a lil correction here and there with the sharpie and things will be fine, nothing happened" while earth's burning.
Ifeelsiikk@reddit
Collapse will feel like the death of a thousand cuts. Expensive chocolate, coffee, and huge power bills are just the beginning.
PervyNonsense@reddit
Having access to chocolate and coffee outside the regions these plants grow and total dependence on energy is the cause of the collapse.
These things should be expensive/unaffordable.
zapembarcodes@reddit
Civil war, armed checkpoints everywhere...
Cease-the-means@reddit
Nah, checkpoints are just stationary targets where you can get guns. A road warriors 7-11.

Don't forget that we have had the best technologies in years. It's just a shame that these technologies are focused on meaningless things and that the vast majority are used for profit.
"We will go down in history as a society that refused to save itself because it wasn't profitable."
Hilda-Ashe@reddit
The damn heat... though huge power bills kind of imply that already.

This little baby pops back in my head when I read such sobering news:
https://youtu.be/Bex5LyzbbBE?si=jEDM71AZpkebeS3j
Her conclusion, essentially, is that we’re fucked. Just absolutely rammed. Politically, environmentally, and personally. There’s really no facet of our lives where we aren’t completely and totally goddamned boned.
Potential-Mammoth-47@reddit (OP)
Wow! Great video, thanks for sharing. At least we have something to laugh about because even crying is no good anymore.
I love their data graphic, 5% not fucked at all, that's funny.
"Ironically the more you struggle against it the more fucked you are. Which is why our recommendation now is that you just bend over and take it"
WileyCoyote7@reddit
Glad you liked it! And 5%?? It’s actually 0.5%; statistically insignificant when it comes to non-fucked scenarios 😂
epadafunk@reddit
Why was India (relatively) cooler last year compared to pretty much everywhere else?
Potential-Mammoth-47@reddit (OP)
Could be a mix of pollution reflecting sunlight, monsoon cloud rain effects, land use practices or natural variability, in the long run, India is warming overall, just not as dramatically as the Arctic.
Far_Out_6and_2@reddit
It’s too late we are all fucked
Potential-Mammoth-47@reddit (OP)
Meh, could be worse.
Having flowers in Antarctica and unusual rainfall patterns in the Sahara is not exactly a good thing. The world’s burning and the ice caps are like “see ya" but hey! at least we’ll get beachfront property in Las Vegas and summer will finally last forever!
jbiserkov@reddit
Summer is coming!
Far_Out_6and_2@reddit
Summer of fire

By Monday i guess, Friday is too far away!
Keep an eye in India and Pakistan!!

Those graphs and/or pix are quite telling.

Number 7 is my favorite. Then I saw the small print, baseline is the whole 20th century, not pre-industrial, so that 1 C scale is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Easy to read right.

Excellent post thanks

Thank you for your post, it reminded me about one important thing.
I forgot to make a coffee today, and I should cherish it while I still can.
So, thanks again!
