Anyone have experience with this? Looking for my first can and this is almost too cheap not to take a flier on it.
AscendantJustice@reddit
It's not the worst. You don't have to worry about a muzzle device ecosystem to buy into so it's pretty simple. Unscrew your current muzzle device, and screw on the can. The only downside is that you lose the muzzle device on your rifle and you have to be somewhat concerned about it unscrewing while firing which could lead to a baffle strike. But torque it down and that won't be an issue.
Settled_Science@reddit
Ecosystem? Really?
AscendantJustice@reddit
Ecosystem. Really.
JobNo527@reddit
I have their Moab (.30 cal) direct thread and it’s solid. Over built and on the heavier side than polo, but I like the tone of it.
JobNo527@reddit
I also have a 16” upper from them. Thing is fantastic.
Noseyp2@reddit
Does anyone know how good this supressor is? P/w to a 12.5 mid length gas is kind of interesting at this price.
D_S_1988@reddit
Not to be a complete dickhead, but I’d imagine it’s $300 worth of “good”. For $325-$350 more you can get a polo with tax stamp OTD if you shop around.
Noseyp2@reddit
Not that you don't make a reasonable point about price and quality, but I don't think you can pin and weld a polo so it's another $200 for the sbr stamp. Let me know if I'm wrong.
I also have an odinworks 6.5cm upper that was good value so this could be a sleeper value.
GassyGlock@reddit
why wouldn’t you be able to p/w a polonium?
Noseyp2@reddit
Idk I asked. I don't see it advertised. Can you?
GassyGlock@reddit
Are you saying you don’t think a polonium can be p/w because it’s not advertised as being able to?
All you do for a p/w is drill a hole, insert a pin, and weld the hole closed. Makes sense a company wouldn’t advertise damaging their product as a feature.
Noseyp2@reddit
I mean it's a valid question to ask if you can p/w it "stock". It sounds like you need to drill a hole. This particular suppressor comes ready to pin and weld without any drilling. That's what I meant.
GassyGlock@reddit
Sure, but anyone who’s able to weld the hole closed is also going to be able to drill a hole. Either way, this doesn’t prohibit you from p/w and won’t require you to SBR like your initial comment implies. You’re still going to have to spend money for someone to p/w it whether it has a hole pre drilled or not.
kickzNblickz@reddit
It’s more than drilling a hole though…you’d basically need to solder the hub to the body and you’d prolly be voiding the warranty in the process
b4gone@reddit
You can solder both the adapter to the body and the adapter to the barrel for like $50 in your garage. it's not rocket science.
kickzNblickz@reddit
Fair enough to each his own. But you do need some type of equipment and most ppl aren’t going to do that …but you got it
b4gone@reddit
My man, it really isn't, "some type of equipment" is 1100f solder and a torch. Instructions are free and online

Double P&W Polo on an 11.5" 556. https://www.reddit.com/r/DesertTech/s/spyQ8nFR57
I didn't think to post pin pictures for proof but they're there.
Noseyp2@reddit
Fair enough. Appreciate the context.
asrspr@reddit
The Polos are hub threaded and just the direct thread adapter alone won’t get you to legal, so you need to both pin and weld the adapter to the gun and also permanently attach the adapter to the suppressor body. Which is probably why OCL didn’t create affordances for pinning. This one is, apparently, direct thread only, so presumably the body is already permanently attached to the 1/2x28 threads.
Noseyp2@reddit
Yea so the OCL sounds like extra hassle and $$ vs this advertised as "p/w" ready supressor. Kinda surprised all the "you're an idiot for asking" responses I got if this is true. The polo is a pita to p/w while this one is p/w ready and less expensive.
GassyGlock@reddit
My apologies if you’ve taken my comments to mean me calling you an idiot — not my intention at all.
The comment above is true, you’re going to have to also p/w the body onto the mount.
My overall point is that I don’t think the process of drilling a hole (or even two for p/w the body onto the mount) is a feature OR detractor. It’s going to boil down to what you’re willing to deal with, and I don’t see drilling two holes as a “PITA,” but you clearly think it is. Different strokes for different folks.
lennyxiii@reddit
I would imagine you don’t have to pin the can to the hub - just weld. It would be no different than a direct thread can that is welded together - it doesnt have pins in it.
umbrellassembly@reddit
I just did this so it is possible. Double p&w on my polo for a MDRX Micron in a no-SBR state. Look at my post history for the final result.
accounts_baleeted@reddit
You get what you pay for to an extent, but its incredibly simple to make a decent traditional baffle stack can, especially if you are an established business and have a little overhead to spare, and already might have the necessary machines and tooling.
Cnc lathes can churn out cups tubes and end caps like clockwork with minimal labor from a machinist if it's done right.
Highplain-Drifter@reddit
What this guy said.
angryrotations@reddit
What did he say?
Highplain-Drifter@reddit
No fucking idea apparently
PlayaPlayaPlaya3@reddit
HE SAID ITS SIX, NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO!
Tactical_Tubesock@reddit
Laughing hard
magniankh@reddit
Cans are all about material used, length, and weight. One or the other isn't necessarily "better" over another, beyond build strength and stuff like that.
Just buy what you want, for the caliber you want, and shop for the length/weight/cost you want.
combat_machine@reddit
I agree. And with 556 you’re gonna be wearing ear pro no matter what.
mhammond0361@reddit
I dont know about this particular can but I will say that i built a 12.5 middy with a kak k spec enhanced a5h2 and it's by far my most fun spftest shooting 556 ar suppressed that I own and i own a LOT of em. Lol
accounts_baleeted@reddit
I spent a lot of money on my qd setup... only to never shoot my suppressed ar without its suppressor. Might as well have p/w'd it.
I don't know anything about the can, but its incredibly easy to make a decent baffle stack can, and I would be very surprised if it's not at least an average can.
Highplain-Drifter@reddit
To summarize. You get what you pay for but I have no experience with this product 🥴
Highplain-Drifter@reddit
Fuck it. In for one because I wanna find out. My YHM k are legit dedicated direct thread. Can’t imagine this would suck enough to care. I’m not expecting subsonic .300 or 22 suppression in a 556/223. Just make it bearable without ears.
b4gone@reddit
There is a whole write up on r/NFA. It's a decent can, easily a slightly smaller gp5
simonnn666@reddit
I have a Rex 556 can and it's actually pretty decent. Similarly priced, traditional design. Though the Rex cans looks cool IMO. I'd definitely buy another at some point.
Tactical_Tubesock@reddit
I have 2x Rex cans and don’t regret either of them. I especially like the 9mm MG7k on my AP5. I think they are under appreciated and when I bought mine I paid like $375 for each, so it was .22 cal can pricepoint, can’t beat that.
angryrotations@reddit
Fuckn tempting....soo tempting. Odin uses alot of YHM far as I've heard
Upscale_Philangio@reddit
I bought mine a week ago :( supposed to land at LGS on Thursday
TC_19a@reddit
If I stop buying other things I can have money to buy things like this when they pop up
Siiiiiiiigh
ChiliTodayHotTomale@reddit
Everyone needs n+1 suppressors. This can't be too bad for the +1.
weaselchew@reddit
Why do companies feel the need to put a billboard on the side of the can and not some small text? Also this is not at the back of the can where it's probably safer in case a rebuild is needed should something terrible happen, e.g. a very catastrophic baffle strike
ChiliTodayHotTomale@reddit
How catastrophic could it be at this price?
ButterscotchDue289@reddit
This is at least a good to pretty good can. But super solid value for the price. got one late last year and the best way to describe it is that it changes the shooting tone - instead of a crack you get much more of a deeper sound. Sorry if that sounds odd but it’s the best way for me to describe it. Definitely not like a Q Thunder Chicken but like a third of the price.
EntryJazzlike4355@reddit
I’m confused why they don’t let you service the suppressor?
AscendantJustice@reddit
It's designed to be completely self contained so that it can be pinned and welded to a barrel that's shorter than 16" and have it count towards the barrel length. So if you have a 12.5" barrel or longer, you don't have to SBR your gun to be able to use real stocks and vertical foregrips. If you were to try to pin and weld a can that uses something like a HUB adapter, only the length of the adapter will count towards the barrel length since the suppressor can be screwed off of the adapter. And since it's been designed this way, you're probably going to break something if you try to take it apart.
Plus, rifle cans generally don't need to be serviced anyways as they're generally considered to be "self cleaning" because the high pressure of the cartridge blows carbon and other gunk out of it. This doesn't mean a can can't become carbon locked to a muzzle device though.
tyraywilson@reddit
Weighing rifle cans or seeing a cross section ofnone shows the "self cleaning" thing to be a myth.
They should be cleaned at least every ounce.
Nouseriously@reddit
Fucking stamp kills it
ry_hy@reddit
Stamp + transfer = price of can 😮💨

is this review solid enough for a justified purchase?
BilboDabinz@reddit
damn it, the poor in me wants to send this on the credit card
KaputtEqu1pment@reddit
ahh.. the Baja Blast of suppressors.
awesome_jackob123@reddit
I’m in the market for a can to shoot 5.7 when PSA finally drop the MP7 clone.
What are our thoughts
ry_hy@reddit
Thinking outside the box - I like it.
I have nothing of value to contribute other than this should suppress 5.7 pretty good. 5.7 through my oculus is impressive, so nearly doubling the volume should - in theory - be better.
SPS_Quiet@reddit
"At no time should the user attempt to unscrew the body or remove the suppressor end cap. Doing so will void the product’s warranty."
For $300 it's worth it.
accounts_baleeted@reddit
Yea, you'll take photos of the cups, post them online and everybody will know who's baffle design they 'borrowed'.
