My BBSHD MTB build is going well so far. I’m keeping my fingers crossed the rest goes smoothly.

I’ve been wanting to do this for so long and I’m trying really hard to not screw it up. If anyone has any advice please lmk.

I'd advise you to use a torque-sensing motor on that bike and save the BBSHD for a commuter

This is my build and im still messing with it https://imgur.com/jthrP4D
Get one of these https://www.pirez.com.au/products/ebike-stabiliser-bar-for-full-suspension-bikes
The batt being upside down has been brought up in previous posts but I cant justify $85 AUD for a piece of plastic 4 bolts and HOSE CLAMPS. And mine is bigger than yore's. LOL
I'm in the process of making my own cables to fit the frame.

Very nice. Looking sexy af. Is that an aftermarket kick stand? If so, what brand is it?
Kevintj07@reddit
Wait till I finish the custom wiring :),its an after market stand prob this https://www.99bikes.com.au/kwt-qbp-rear-two-hole-adjust-kickstand-24-28
I'm in OZ so it was from a local bike shop.

Sweet. Thanks.

Ground clearance looks like a problem.
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Might be the weird perspective of the pic but in person it actually has a very good amount of ground clearance
BrianJPace@reddit
I speak from experience that it is nearly impossible to keep the motor from rotating itself forward from the torque. The bikes I converted required me to reroute the rear derailleur cable to keep it from being pinched.
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Forward as in towards the front tire? That’s where I want it to be. The cords go through the frame
BrianJPace@reddit
Gotcha. One thing I don't see in the picture is a gear change sensor. It temporarily cuts out the motor while the chain is transitioning.
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Yeah I haven’t gotten to that part yet. It might be a pain in the ass because all the shift cords are either inside the frame or covered with tubing. I’ll probably have to expose some of it to instal the sensor.
BrianJPace@reddit
Here's how I did mine if it helps you with ideas.

Thanks

I've made a few hybrids and this ground clearance will work but that motor is taking a few bash each ride on uneven terrain. Machine a bash guard if you wish it to really last.

They have a smaller one too, will have to measure your frame up, its solid..
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Good to know. Thanks
SadisticPawz@reddit
waow, tinybatt. Which?
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Bicycle motor works wedge battery 52V 10ah
modus_bonens@reddit
Looks fun! Any reason why you didn't rotate the motor towards the downtube?
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
It’s not fully installed yet, it will be rotated forward yeah
happ-e-rider@reddit
It looks good so far.
Just querying the reason you have the battery mounted that way, as it looks to be upside down.
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Because that’s the only way the track that mounts on to the frame would work with the existing holes for the bottle holder. I may end up drilling a hole and adding a threaded rivet so I can have it right side up. Not sure yet.
happ-e-rider@reddit
Would either of these be useful https://ebikes.ca/product-info/grin-products/battery-anchors.html
leventhalo@reddit (OP)
Potentially, yes! Thanks for the idea!

All at the battery, sounds like you are doing amazing
