Unfortunately our cohort has had an increase in colorectal cancer rates; I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s at some point found to be because of all the plastics
For me it's the micro plastics, the copious amount of automotive chemicals, drugs and alcohol, an entire Texas of red meat, and those weird sodas from Hot Topic.
My cancer is in a fight for its life against the other cancers.
Guess I'm a minority, I started scouts in the mid 90's and we used Nalgene bottles all the time. That habit bled over into normal life and I had a Nalgene bottle strapped to my backpack for years until I finished school.
The only time I ever actually remember using a water bottle was training camp for swimming. We did a lot of outdoor running and stuff outside where there wasn’t a water fountain. Otherwise I don’t ever remember using one!
You too? Ours was a maroon color, but I think it held a gallon, and definitely the best solution to keeping the water cold until the end of the game/activity…Damn, nothing was more refreshing than taking a big gulp of ice cold water in 90f heat.
I think mine got stolen one time or I mistakenly took another person. I found it weird that the foldable spout tasted/felt different then realized it wasn't mine.
Yeah, nobody ever had the one I had so there was no mistaking it for another. And it just goes to show you the quality of things from decades ago, because it didn’t leak and always kept water ice cold for hours, and we used to use that thing all the time during the summer.
I also remember they recommended this to go with soda, and if you put some, the smell and the taste would never get off, also, some people used to try to wash it with hot water and the lid and straw would be ruined
That’s why we were never thirsty. The PFA’s from 106 degree plastic bottle baking in an un-air conditioning car for 3 days. I swear I went weeks with out drinking anything I feel like, now I gotta have a bottle of water next to me or I feel like I’ll die.
Thanks! I remember when they came out and my brother, myself and cousins got them all as gifts. We had the whole set. Alas Mikey’s nunchucks didn’t last long and they all got lost along the way.
I had several of the smaller toys, but my dog ate all of their heads and hands. Nothing else, just their squishy heads and their hands. She didn't chew on our other toys either.
Hah! That’s where they get you. You have to buy all the other big figures to have any fun. I had the big versions of the X-men toys like this also but they didn’t make very many of them so it was definitely hard to play with them like the regular sized ones.
You ever rapidly tap the TV remote against your mouth while staring at the Preview Channel cycle upwards, just to see if Nickelodeon will show 1 episode of GUTS, or 2 episodes back to back?
Fucking mind blower!! I had the Ninja turtles one when I was little and wasn't allowed to use it. No clue what happened to it. Haven't thought of that in over 30 years
I definitely had the NKOTB bottle although I'm pretty sure it was hot pink because it was one of the mandatory colors of that era (the others being neon orange/yellow/green, electric blue, etc.)
Damn, I can’t believe it but yeah, I absolutely can taste this photo.
Mmmm room temp plastic! No matter what they never kept the drink of choice cool. Maybe the plastics created a kind of microwave friction inside.
Drinking out of those tasted just like drinking out of a water hose. As in, old plastic, slight metallic tang, and always lukewarm so you could really taste the previous two.
i might've had that exact ninja turtles one. I drank kool aid out of it once and it never really became properly clean even after washing and the water always tasted vaguely of kool aid afterwards
Idontlikebigbuttsand@reddit
mmm tastes like cheap plastic.
Bettak684@reddit
I think I had the green one
mysecretissafe@reddit
The S O U N D of that straw in the lid

All all those sweet microorganisms in the crevices of the bendy ones.

I was going to say, I can HEAR this picture.
MyMomsTastyButthole@reddit
I can also smell it
LexiNovember@reddit
Mine were always half corrugated and half smooth so it was a “pop-pop-bap-bahp-honk-hoooonk”
Dangerous_Spring5030@reddit
I always liked trying to make mine sound like a beat box. It didn’t work. It sounded more like….ripping tape on and off.
sweetassassin@reddit
Mmmm. That is some good, aged petroleum. They don’t make it like they use to.
itallsucks80@reddit
I had that TMNT one 🤣
NecessaryWeather4275@reddit
Wow. I forgot about those. Yes I can taste and feel this picture. The straws were oddly large.
QueenJGambino@reddit
I had the Ninja turtle bottle! I believe I still have it in my memory box in my garage 🥰
TheJustBleedGod@reddit
back when PFASs and microplastics were an entire food group
BusterOfCherry@reddit
I can taste and smell those bottles ugh
generalsleephenson@reddit
They were inside of us, all along.

The average brain liquified will produce about one teaspoon of microplastics 🌈💫

That’s horrific.

millenial_wh00p@reddit
Holy shit
Mdriver127@reddit
You melted holes yours in the dishwasher too I see..
TP_Crisis_2020@reddit
Even when not melted, mine always leaked from where the straw went into the lid.
dkonigs@reddit
We had water bottles back in the day? I certainly don't remember that.
All I remember was the occasional water canteen you'd bring to summer camp, and that's it.
Meanwhile, today, it seems like its mandatory that kids always have water bottles with them everywhere.
TP_Crisis_2020@reddit

Yeah, nobody ever had the one I had so there was no mistaking it for another. And it just goes to show you the quality of things from decades ago, because it didn’t leak and always kept water ice cold for hours, and we used to use that thing all the time during the summer.

Tbh if you're playing basketball orange soda really isn't that bad for you. Sports drinks are just soda minus bubbles with salts.

I bought like, 6 Michelangelo’s because the nunchucks kept breaking in half.
Probably why I liked Donatello the most, that bo never broke.
