Airbus A340 in Zurich 😍

I flew on one as a kid, I think it was Aer Lingus, but haven’t ever seen one since as I believe they’re exclusively Lufthansa and Swiss.

The engines look wild compared to modern high bypass turbofans and look like something from the 1960’s or like they’re from an ME 262!

Love the A340, but does need a lick of paint, the -600 with the reverse middle landing gear is just amazing (idk the technical term)

I love the A340, but also as someone that lives in the departure route of ZRH, it‘s the loudest plane by far

Flies over my house way less often, but it‘s also newer than the A340, climbs better and thus quieter

I was fortunate enough at ZRH to hear and see it taking off from the airport shuttle bus. Absolutely stunning noise.

Hey, that is really unfair!

The APU is by far the more powerful engine here!

Sad A340 returning to the gate after strong wind gusts of 1 knot forces Swiss to cancel the flight: “These gusts are just too strong for these engines to deal with. Safety is our top priority and we will rebook our passengers onto the next available flight” according to a spokesperson for the airline.
