Looking for an e-bike with throttle + pedals that hits 35+ mph

Hey y’all,
I’m trying to find an e-bike that has both a throttle and pedals, and can hit at least 35 mph. I like being able to ride it like a regular bike when I want, but also want that throttle option for when I just wanna cruise or get around quick. I used to ride motorcycles and really miss that feeling, but I stopped after a couple fatal crashes happened near me.So I just don’t wanna take that risk anymore. E-bikes seem like a good middle ground since my city has bike lanes that transition to Shared-use paths making it easy and safe for everyone to commute by bike.
If anyone knows a good model that fits that vibe, I’d appreciate the recs.

Just get a moped and get it registered and insured. Keep it off bike paths.

Sur-rons are legal in colorado

That's a shame

Nah

Legal class 3 electric bicycles max out at 28mph. Anything over that, even with pedals in most places will be considered a moped or motorcycle.
With that said... there are some brands that go above 28 and have pedals.

Not where I live.

There are several bikes that meet your criteria. If you want it bike like then the Wired Freedom or Ariel Kepler. If you want a moped style then the Motor Goat is my preferred ride, and yes it can be pedaled but I find the tuning on the pedal assist isn't as good as I'd like (and there is no app to adjust it).

Friend, what you're asking for is at best a moped. 35+ mph still includes electric motorcycles. You're not asking for an ebike. Don't take whatever you get on shared paths or bike lanes which are typically speed-limited to 15 mph or 20-25 mph, respectively. You won't belong there.
Go ask in the e-moto sub if that's what you actually want. If you want a 750 W max legal ebike, that's another matter.
besafer2day@reddit
friend, your 750W ebike is also a moped. no reason why having more watts should stop you from simply obeying speed limits. you don’t even know what “moped” means. if you lack self control and can’t follow speed limits when utilizing roads or bike paths, you shouldn’t even be allowed to operate any vehicle. i can hear you already, “officer my car goes 140 top speed so i have to go that fast!”
genesRus@reddit
No, it's not. There is a specific legal carve out for "bikes" in the US where anything with an electric motor under 750 W is considered legally a "bike". It also has to comply with the class I, II, or III rules to meet the definition of a "bike" for legal use on public roadways (or paths and, depending on the jurisdiction, sidewalks), but I was simplifying since that's less commonly enforced.
Your argument is ridiculous. I've already stated that there are two different speed limits for paths and bike lanes. Clearly I comprehend the difference between the maximum speed possible on the vehicle and what the location is speed limited to...e.g., a class II maintaining 15 mph on a shared use path despite being capable of 20 mph. None of that flawed logic "I'll do what I want" changes the laws that only enable legal "bikes", mobility assistance devices, parks vehicles, pedestrians, etc. to use shared use paths. Moped and motorcycles are prohibited unless it's a specifically designated motor sports path--in which case, be my guest, since you pay for the tax dollars to maintain the path for the much heavier, higher speed vehicles, policing, and accident issues required.
Otherwise, your 1000 W, 2000 W, etc. dirt bike, moped, motorcycle--whatever you want to call it is not a bike legally. It is not entitled to use the roadways without licensing because it's not a bike. I don't make the rules. Go argue with your legislator if you don't like it.

have fun trying to prove it’s over 750W. i had it rated 750W nominal by the manufacturer. someone doesn’t know how motors work and how the peak isn’t what is observed as legality, simply the ratings.
and ah yes, people who ride 100 pound bikes should have to pay excessive fees to drive on roads that loaded coal trucks operate on. that makes sense. the road can’t handle lighter weight, the damage is too immense!!
genesRus@reddit
I see there was some confusion. I clearly said shared use path and you read "road". Funny that!
Why am I trying prove anything? I'm not in enforcement. Besides if it's nominally 750 W, why are you here arguing with me? That complies with the law if you fall into one of the three classes. Go pick another pointless fight with someone else...
besafer2day@reddit
it’s nominally rated 750w. it goes 48+mph. use your single brain cell and gray matter in said brain to piece together the obvious. rating and legality have no bearing on safety.
genesRus@reddit
Cool, so if they clock you at over 28 mph it's moot whether they can prove it's over 750 W, as I've stated...you need to fall within one of the three classes, too. What's not enforced is the class II to class III distinction. That gap of 20 mph is not something you could argue away if you do stretch its legs on the road as, "Oh, no officer, I was going down a hill and/or pedalling really hard." So good luck with that if your jurisdiction ever starts enforcing the rules on the books. I'm sure the impound and license points will be fun. As I said, if you disagree re: ratings and safety, go talk to your legislator instead of arguing pointlessly here.
We got into this because you decided you wanted to play technicalities on definitions of "moped" vs. "bike". I'm sorry you were wrong about it and can't seem to admit either that or that you failed to accurately read my comments. It's honestly embarrassing for you. Maybe don't continue arguing pointlessly about things I never said? You're just digging a bigger hole, "theyby".

35mph is not safe on a bicycle. The suspension, brakes and handling are not as robust as a motorcycle. The compromise you want is a small motorcycle, coupled with careful riding in relatively safe venues. Get one of those Royal Enfield things.

At least 35mph is a lot. But imo I’d suggest a Super73, which can be modded to go that speed. Ymmv.

Ok Ok I'm starting to sound like a broken record. Wired e-bikes are your answers 72v x2 batteries even there level entry The Wired Freedom kiks ass. Check out citizen cycle on YouTube he is a good resource to see them in action. I just ordered The Predator and will be getting delivered in June. I can't wait, up to 60mph there will be no stopping the good times.

A "near" fatal crash on a motorcycle is a "definitely" fatal crash on a bicycle.
When on my moto, I have a full face helmet on, armored jacket, kevlar leggings. I am riding with the traffic.
On my bicycle, I am splitting lanes, have a dinky helmet, a T-shirt and jeans at best. I am 1 passenger door open from death at best.
