Alanis Morissette on Rolling Stone’s cover, November 2, 1995. Hard to believe it’s been 30 years!

She still looks good today, IMO.

I laugh every time I hear You Oughta Know thinking about Uncle Joey getting a bj from her in a theater.
peggysue_82@reddit
Not to be that person, but I am going to be. It was never Uncle Joey! He was only ever referred to as Joey on Full House.
Gabby_Johnson2@reddit
damn it, you're right.

Gonzanic@reddit
No, it hasn’t.
ZombieCantStop@reddit
The rock music from 93 and 94 was epic.
throwawayfromPA1701@reddit
Man. That militias and the NRA headline...
Roland-Of-Eld-19@reddit
She's our Canadian Sheryl Crow and Celine Dion is our Canadian Whitney Houston
InfidelZombie@reddit
I saw her with Tori Amos at an amphitheater show in 1999. Yes, I was dating that girl.
zoominzacks@reddit
Did you also see Ani Difranco at some point?
InfidelZombie@reddit
Dodged that bullet. And actually, Tori Amos was a wonderful, charismatic performer and of course Alanis killed it.
allthesamejacketl@reddit
What’s wrong with Ani? she’s crazy talented
InfidelZombie@reddit
Nothing against her, just not my style. If I'd seen her live they probably would've made me rip all the patches off my punk jean jacket.
allthesamejacketl@reddit
I’m punk af and I love Ani. Sorry I just feel like you might say the same thing about Tori or Alanis if you hadn’t seen them perform. Not trying to insist you like music you just don’t like but I also have a sense you may not have listened to much of her work.
roopjm81@reddit
Ani fuck rocks! Seen her 7 times.
SlapHappyDude@reddit
I saw Tori Summer 2023 and saw Alanis this past fall. I guess I married "that" girl.
Jets237@reddit
Hell I saw alanis and Joan Jett last year. I married that girl
ClearlyDemented@reddit
Hi! I was that girl!
Ok_Recipe12@reddit
flea and dave(ill be dammed its dave navarro) make that track amazing (sorry uncle joey, i know its about you), and her version of dear prudences was great, and her being god in dogma was amazing..omg, 25 years later, do i like alanis?
ECorp_ITSupport@reddit
Isn’t it ironic?
Appropriate-Neck-585@reddit (OP)
Don't cha think?
TimedogGAF@reddit
She looks 34 in that picture
anOvenofWitches@reddit
The nostalgia of griping about a 90s paycheck!
plants4life262@reddit
Today I was driving my wife around and said “hey siri” and pointed to her. She said “play alanis morissette” and we legit rocked out to jagged little pill
kinopiokun@reddit
Still have my copy haha
Ok-Kangaroo4613@reddit
I remember this one vividly
Holmes221bBSt@reddit
And she’s still a baddie. I’d kill to see her perform
clumsystarfish_@reddit
I've seen her twice over the past couple of years, and she still kills it.
Snackatomi_Plaza@reddit
Even longer if you remember her as a teen pop singer or from the cast of You Can't do That on Television.
delibertine@reddit
My first concert. It was amazing. Also loud af
DoctorFenix@reddit
It’s hard to believe she was called an Angry White Female.
She had one fucking rock breakup song on an album that was otherwise full of light pop songs.
chronicerection@reddit
You are correct about the music, but at the time she was viewed by some people as edgy to the point of self destruction. They called her "Alanis MoreUpset'. When my uncle saw her live at a club he was like, "yeah, she'll be dead in a few years". Thankfully that wasn't the case.
DoctorFenix@reddit
Dead of what? The crushing weight of pop superstardom? 😂
amindfulloffire@reddit
That's kind of a lopsided take, I think. Granted, You Oughta Know was the angriest song on there, sure, so it's not fair to call her "angry", but songs like Perfect, Right Through You or Mary Jane weren't what I'd call "light pop". It's honestly a mixed bag of one really angry song, some angst and some pop.
mycatlovesprimus@reddit
Whole album sounds like it was made at a shopping mall. The Alanis hysteria was so absurd. And there were so many other "angry" women who were more deserving of the hype.
DoctorFenix@reddit
I mean I liked the album. No shade on the fact that it was a pop record.
But it WAS a pop record.
mycatlovesprimus@reddit
Exactly. The marketing and the people repeating the marketing was the annoying thing. Otherwise it's just a pop record.
DoctorFenix@reddit
The same people at the label must have been responsible for marketing Avril Lavigne like she was punk.
Appropriate-Neck-585@reddit (OP)
That headline is attention grabbing on the magazine rack. Mag ain't gonna sell itself!
UpkeepUnicorn@reddit
Even harder to believe who made her that way
cigarandcreamsoda@reddit
Ah yes, the year Canada invented grunge.
MyKidsArentOnReddit@reddit
Alanis Morissette on Rolling Stone’s cover, November 2, 1995. You oughta know it’s been 30 years!
There, I fixed your headline OP.
RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker@reddit
crazy she was only 21 here!
APOC_V@reddit
Sad to say the only I knew about her at the time was the crazy stomach pumping rumor.
CelticSith@reddit
David Bowie and NIN live, I remember that tour
sneeria@reddit
It was my first concert!

Perfect Crosspost!
