Upgrading ram question

I need to upgrade the ram in my computer. I've already learned from Google searching that replacing is better/safer than just adding. Now I'm looking at the support page for my motherboard and it has a list of compatible ram sticks, do I need to use only those on the list? I'm struggling to find anything on that list but I can find other sticks that are the same voltage and speed, which I think are the things I need to line up?

Nope, pop the ram around find the model number
Look at the motherboard's support for timings
If yours is fastest, get another identical one if it can max out your system (Say you got 4 slots and have a 16GB with 64GB max on mobo)
Compare prices to new ram sticks if you want faster speed and lower latency.
Often times it's cheaper to buy an identical stick with same latency, if not the same the ram will default to the slowest stick.

This doesn’t work with DDR5

Wym?

DDR5 is a lot more finicky (well actually the IMC on the CPU is weak, Intel is a bit better than AMD, but not by much).
There are 4 options: - 2x runs at advertised speeds - 4x mismatched won’t run stable - 4x (mismatched) runs at base speed - 4x (mismatched) runs as fast as your CPU’s IMC can handle, which will require a lot of manual tweaking and stress testing

I see what you're saying, yup, you are right.
I just changed my laptop's ram a month ago, CPU-Z is a great check tool to make sure it's installed as well. I actually needed to push my sodimm in more.
If the ram speed isn't supported I wouldn't want to pay $100 for ram that I can't use, my $0.02 (laptop's was $60, updated wifi chip as well) WIFI 7 chips only work on Windows 11 24h2 (my ryzen is a 1700 so I'm suck on 10 till i get a 65w 2700, i hope)
Are you tweaking IMC, or tweaking ram timing in bios, or a windows program?
unknownloser54321@reddit
You would be tweaking RAM speed (more specifically: MCLK and UCLK) and timings (and sometimes voltage) in bios

Model # of board and model # of your ram?

Use RAM on one of the two QVL. Either motherboard, RAM manufacturer, of preferably both.

Give full specs, CPU, ram, motherboard
Why do you need to upgrade? For what task?

What is your motherboard?
