Most human rights and legal experts consider the El Salvadorian prison a concentration camp. Depending how Trump plans to use Gitmo or some of our detention centers, those could be by definition concentration camps.
Definition: A concentration camp is a prison or other facility used for the internment of political prisoners or politically targeted demographics, such as members of national or minority ethnic groups, on the grounds of state security, or for exploitation or punishment.
Not all concentration camps are death camps, like the US’s Japanese Interment camps were by definition concentration camps but they weren’t used to systematically kill those they held.
But many human rights organizations believe the El Salvadorian prison is also a death camp, because prisoners can never leave and never do leave, it has limited capacity but regularly accepts new inmates - this has been tracked for years. Where are the other prisoners going, if they’re not leaving?
Just because Trump says, “we’re only going after the worst criminals in the illegal immigrant population”, doesn’t mean that’s true. ICE has been sweeping up legal immigrants, legal asylum seekers, and American citizens in their raids and just off the street - and in many of those cases they were not criminals. ICE and the Trump admin have literally admitted to “accidentally” or deliberately grabbing the wrong people, innocent people and deporting them to El Salvador. Trump has said, we should “send American citizens next, but only the most violent, the worst criminal homegrowns”. But if that’s what he said about illegal immigrants and this is the result, why would that not scare the hell out of everyone that they wouldn’t have the same lackadaisical deportation policy and practice for US citizens?
This administration is ignoring rulings from the Supreme Court. This is lawlessness and goes completely against our country’s founding principles.

ICE had been looking for him, among others. Guy gets picked up on a battery charge, ICE is finally able to locate him because of that, so they go to the courthouse to deport him. This had been recently happening in her court room, so she stupidly decided to start hiding illegals in her jury room, ICE finds out and informs the FBI.

The equal protection clause is for CITIZENS. It's the same reason why an illegal immigrant with no ID, without citizenship, can not walk into a gun store and pass the 4473 background checks when purchasing a firearms. This does not violate their 2nd Amendment right, applied to the states through the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause because they are not a CITIZEN. I'll answer. Everyone is too fat and comfortable to give a damn when push comes to shove. Very few people are actually willing to die for this country and democracy. It's on both sides though. By all accounts, we should have had a civil war some time during the last twelve years. But the truth is, no one wants to sacrifice their 401k, their $4.99 boxes of cheerios, Starbucks, Dutch Bros, pickup trucks, Teslas, Iphones, Youtube TV and farmers markets more than they'd just like to make Tiktok and Youtube videos complaining about the things that are bothering about this country.
I'm apathetic and I'll admit it. I'll roll with the punches of whichever administration is slowly continuing to erode the principles and values that I remember from my childhood until sometime in the next 100 years it ceases to exist entirely. Mostly because I know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that less than 100k people would actually fire shots if push came to shove. So why be the one to sacrifice yourself for a meaningless cause? You'd get some likes, thoughts and prayers, meaningless Reddit Karma for your death and then what? Your name is buried and forgotten forever while everyone continues on with their lives, because the reality is that outrage and sympathy are short lived these days and no one REALLY cares.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to finish my lunchable and look at Kacey Musgraves' thighs on Reddit while I read about the trade war.

I’ll add to this, also many are too broke and exhausted working overtime or multiple jobs just to survive week to week… and that was by design!
Look up Nixon and Reagan defunding public universities and allowing them to charge more for tuition. Look up Nixon’s administration’s actual reason for starting the drug war - I’ll save you that step it was to target black communities, specifically black organizers, and anti-war Vietnam protestors, especially on college campuses. Then look at the beginning of the end of good paying US manufacturing jobs under Reagan and why that administration started to open up global trade agreements to ship those jobs overseas - then see almost every subsequent administration do it even more… granted Biden did attempt to build up some through the infrastructure and CHIPs bills, the bureaucracy around those bills though are gonna take a decade to see all the results.
But anyways, those policies weren’t just about “smaller government”, “stoping indoctrination”, “saving Americans from the scourge of drugs” or “bigger profits to the wealthy corporations”.
Their primary goal, and there are records of their statements on this, was about preventing another 60’s protest movement from ever happening again - no more civil rights movements, no more anti-war protests, no more feminist movements, no more college campus protests, they wanted that all to end by making life harder and taking away any semblance of free time for free though or any organized movement to take root.
If kids can’t afford to go to college then they’ll have to take out loans, and if they get into debt then they’re gonna have to take the first job available, maybe not even a good job, especially if we shipped a bunch of those overseas, and now they’re trapped in a debt cycle at a shitty paying job, exhausted, constantly working and have no time to focus on what’s happening in the country or politics let alone organize.
Or maybe young people don’t go to college and just go straight into the workforce, well most of the good jobs that don’t require secondary education, those are gone or outsourced now and a lot of other good paying jobs are gonna start requiring a college degree for applications even if it’s not necessary for the role and wasn’t ever needed in the past - how about minimum wage and multiple jobs just to survive - too exhausted and too broke to organize.
And then of course you’re miserable or maybe not miserable yet just wanting to experiment so you get some weed or coke or maybe even heroin, whatever you get up to on the weekends, but whoops you’re in an over policed area or you get profiled and you get caught with those drugs and now you’re going to prison for a minimum sentence - can’t organize and in most states now you can’t vote. Granted obviously laws have changed in several states around this, but not all and many republican politicians want to go back to more criminalization, because a bonus is all that private prison donor money.
Yes, it’s not impossible to work hard, get ahead, and live comfortably but it’s definitely harder today than it was between 1950-1973. In fact studies show it’s harder today to work your way out of the socioeconomic class you were born into. That’s absolutely fucked.
I totally agree with your premise that a lot of Americans are lazy and complacent and it’s not quite “bad enough” to risk giving up any comforts they currently have. But for the folks that aren’t comfortable and many who are suffering in our failed system, this shit was by design and unfortunately in many cases it’s only gotten worse over the last 50 years, we’re just all around the culmination of all those shitty policies.
I don’t know what the breaking point looks like, I don’t know if any of us want to see it get that bad considering something should have given 20 years ago. Maybe, just maybe we get some kind of organized opposition party (not the democrats) that actually speak for the majority of Americans to un-ratfuck America and the shitty policies that got us here. I don’t know, but here where are.

It's like everyone crowing about those AOC protests. You can burn people out on all the protesting. i think a better idea would be to spread the protests out so that they are still relevant and noticable but don't turn people away from the whole thing.
I think the protesters should take a page from the 'enemy' play book. The tea party people came out, protested, cleans up after themselves and went home and you didn't hear anything for a while. Then come election time they VOTED and people like minding people in Congress.
