Trucker out of time so company wants me to take it the rest of the way.
Summerway@reddit
SEND IT !!!
Waisted-Desert@reddit
All depends on where the trailer tandems are and what states you're driving in. I'm not worried about the 180 over gross.
A_CA_TruckDriver@reddit
Throw some piss gallons out the window and send it
cakefyartz@reddit
1 cubic foot of piss weight approximately 64 pounds
Helpful_Finger_4854@reddit
Literally 1/3 of a cubic yard
cakefyartz@reddit
A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet so 3 cubic feet is 1/9th of a cubic yard
Helpful_Finger_4854@reddit
You're correct. Idk why I calculated square yards in my head. My bad
cakefyartz@reddit
It’s okay i can only do math if it involves quantities of piss
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit
Is that you pissmaster??
cakefyartz@reddit
Piss jug man
II-Harv-II@reddit
If it's golden, you should drink more water. Stay hydrated
SammichParade@reddit
Lol
campingInAnRV@reddit
just get rid of the lot lizard
InitiativeHonest8394@reddit
You’d be lucky if that lot lizard was 180 pounds 😂
campingInAnRV@reddit
if ur saying the lizard would be over 180, thats the idea anyway
allows for more fuel too lmao
bezm12@reddit
He can't throw out his piss bottles until he gets to a TA parking lot.
Larrythethird22@reddit
⬆️ This guy trucks
sultrytrucker@reddit
Definitely slide Tandems to put extra weight on drives. If the total weight can be 80,000 it shouldn't be a problem. If you get a ticket. I would definitely have the original driver pay it!
EducationalWay7036@reddit
Yep your allowed 90 on I 90 and parts of I 80 Texas send it lol I have been in Texas for 4 days before before even seeing a scale lol
WideAd2738@reddit
I wouldn’t be worried about 180 either especially if you know where the scale is (if you cross one) you’ll probably burn close to that in fuel by the time you get there (about 25 gallons of fuel)
Fearless-Stonk@reddit
Negative! You're 2000 over on your trailer
Agitated-Bison-7885@reddit
I used to think that was ok until got fined for being 50lbs over on my tandems. Fkn Home Depot load that wasn’t secured inside the trailer apparently slid back after I scaled out and went up a hill. Got pulled in at Cheyenne and was fined for it.
Exciting-Car-3516@reddit
That’s a diff story. When I did tanker we often ran overweight. Especially if it’s food grade and they overload you they are not going to take anything out. If you get pulled over you will be fined but it’s doesn’t go against your csa or points on your license, it’s just a ticket and my company always paid for it. Customer prefers to pay a fine that lose a $10k load. It also depends how much over. 50lbs is nitpicking, I would have rescaled it argued it. Anyways lost cause. Be safe out there
Exciting-Car-3516@reddit
That’s solid but gotta slide the tandems to balance it out. No need to worry about that there is some +/- slack it is not 100% accurate.
CreatedbyKey@reddit
I don’t give DOT any reason to bother me, that’s just me though. It’s all gonna depend on who feels like getting quota.
25_Unknown_Devices@reddit
With a permit sure.
Fellthefox@reddit
It's spring, just drop your tire chains off somewhere and come back for them next winter
ImAboveMost@reddit (OP)
Tandems are all the way forward btw.
Inside-Finish-2128@reddit
Slide the trailer axles back and the hitch forward. Don’t worry about the 180…you’ll burn off some fuel. Be a hair heavy on the steers and a bit more on the drives so when the fuel burns off you’re good.
Prior-Ad-7329@reddit
Slide them all the way back (or 8 to 9 holes) and send it.
PomeloResponsible122@reddit
Slide em back. For some reason every time I haul bananas I have to slide my tandems almost all the way back to get to 34k… as for the 180 over gross I wouldn’t worry about it.
wesker1213@reddit
I'd take it back. Even if he's at 34k even on the tandems, he'd be a little over 35k on drives. Not sure I'd want to risk it.
Prior-Ad-7329@reddit
Them darn bananas
PomeloResponsible122@reddit
Every damn time lol.
robexib@reddit
Slide them bitches back a few holes and reweigh
BriskManeuver@reddit
Get that trailer reworked before you regret it
Tandem weights being slightly off are one thing but overall weight isn't
OffWalrusCargo@reddit
Depends, if he has a apu exemption in a state that accepts them he's fine after adjusting tandems. If he's in California hell no get it reworked.
BriskManeuver@reddit
Still i wouldn't fuck with it personally
DOT could be having a bad day or doing strict inspections. Not sure what an APU exemption is but I would have turned around hahs
OffWalrusCargo@reddit
Apu exemption allows up to 500lbs overweight if you have an apu and the state honors it.
BriskManeuver@reddit
Didn't know that
Flowing_North@reddit
Slide n ride
RdAlfkC05@reddit
What brand of trailer? I'd slide back at least 4-6 holes rescale and if it's good send it
DependentPlace5534@reddit
I keep mine at the 8th hole
DependentPlace5534@reddit
No 👎👎🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️
TheGamingMann43@reddit
You could slide those tandems back some holes and get the drives to 34k then you should be in decent shape.
ignoreme010101@reddit
depends on #1 Can you slide tandems to correct axle overweight? And #2, total weight, can you burn enough fuel weight b4 a weigh station?
Hypnowolfproductions@reddit
It's his trailer that's at 36,600 so if he can't slide them he's out of luck.
ignoreme010101@reddit
yeah hopefully those tandems are slammed front ward all the way cuz he's gotta slide back for 2600lbs before the >80k problem lol
xmby_@reddit
20 gallons of fuel at 9 mpg is 180 miles. You got that far to the next weigh station?
Used-Chemistry1685@reddit
9 a gallon? I’m lucky if I do 5.5 😂
Old-Wolf-1024@reddit
My running avg for the last 6 months has been 4.4 🫤
TastyOpossum09@reddit
When my unit got our new M915 A5’s we were thrilled to be getting 2. Our old A1’s got less than 1
Used-Chemistry1685@reddit
I’m rolling at 150-160 pounds all day. How much weight were yall moving?
nanneryeeter@reddit
We run heavy haul tanker. 5.5 whether it's an underpowered pos or a proper CAT engine.
yes-disappointment@reddit
some volvo and cascadia running heavy aero and not heavy loads get that. I seen 10.5mpg.
Helpful_Finger_4854@reddit
Bro was running it at 45 mph probably
2handbus@reddit
Georgia to Virginia 78,000 8.3 @ 66mph. 2021 automatic Cascadia. It’s all about how they are configured. I bet Prime has the best. 2015 had a manual Peterbilt averaged 9 @ 68mph at Prime.
Tdub8989@reddit
Literally, 65k gross currently coming from Grand Rapids to New Albany, MS averaging 10.8
HeavyHaulSabre@reddit
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, 9mpg really? I was thrilled to get 6.5 once.
vadroko@reddit
You ain't getting 9mpg with that much weight unless it's all downhill
xmby_@reddit
Nope. Hence 180 being a safe estimate.
StandForAChange@reddit
Never mind the 36k on the rears
GlomBastic@reddit
Maybe that's where they tanks are?
DependentPlace5534@reddit
No no no 🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️
TheGamingMann43@reddit
I thought about burning the fuel off too but the trailer axles are over if it's a standard tandem setup. Burning fuel will put you under gross but the trailer will still be too heavy.
santanzchild@reddit
Nope I don't like working for free and that ticjet is likely to he more than mosy loads are paying.
2handbus@reddit
Illinois $560 for 2000 over on trailer last month.
Herotrucker@reddit
Marion, Illinois.57 NB got $3100 for 10,000 over on the drive. Load got shifted lol.
ShortCurlies@reddit
I don't know how they do it now, I think its an automatic ticket AND you have to fix the load but back in the day they'd send you around back to adjust you axles and fifth wheel and let you go over the scale as many times as needed until it was fixed. I had a load of Hi-C fruit punch loaded maxed out and was over by 900lbs on my trailer axle after shifting everything around. I ended up inside the trailer cussing my head off and slinging cases of Hi-C fruit punch towards the front of the trailer crouched over under the metal roof on one of the hottest days of the year. Went over and was still over weight. Climbed back in and slung some more cases, I didn't care if it broke or leaked or what I was so pissed off I was trying to damage it. I went over for the fourth time and was still 180lbs over and the scale guard looked at me and saw me soaked head to toe with sweat and laughed and said have a nice trip driver and green lighted me.
GumbysDonkey@reddit
holy fucking shit. Did the trailer shift on top of the cab?
Herotrucker@reddit
Lol no idk how the shipper loaded. The skids were too small to strap and heavy too. They put 4 skids on the nose then a big gap then 8 skids in the middle and then a big gap and then 4 at the tail. Since i couldn’t strap because of the skid height i put load bars in the beginning of the middle gap and the end of the gap so that the load in the middle won’t shift but idk somehow the load bars couldn’t handle it of got loose or idk what happened every skid end up being on the nose of the trailer. Didn’t even brake too hard at any point of the trip. Picked up from Laredo,tx.
santanzchild@reddit
Got one in MO about 10 years ago. 1300lb was $380
eaglescout225@reddit
Bingo.
LuRkEr_ReKuL@reddit
Yes but I drag a lowboy so no worries.
WavyMerica@reddit
Hell nah
Malfuryon9@reddit
If you're in Texas and you get Scaled go buy a lottery ticket cuz that's how often that s*** happens
GlomBastic@reddit
Get her to 20mph then slam on the brakes
PenniesByTheMile@reddit
Only if its all the same shit loaded and not something on crates lol all fun and games till every pallet of 2L ends up as a pile in the nose.
GlomBastic@reddit
Tractor supply hates this truck.
PenniesByTheMile@reddit
I’d definitely be marching into the managers office to demand a raise on the spot before I even touch it lol either pay me a wage appropriate for that mess or find someone else.
Abucfan21@reddit
That's a big NOPE from me.
JoeAneas02@reddit
Obviously I’ve been over my more and never been caught even going over scales
Comfortable-Fan8102@reddit
Fuck no
HollowMonty@reddit
Company can fuck themselves. And I'll drive anything illegally on the road. It's not them gambling their license and livelihood.
acethedirty1@reddit
Assuming you're not running a spread axle?
eaglescout225@reddit
Even if you decided that to run it, and did the math for the gross weight vs how much fuel your gonna burn before the next scale house....then you'd have to take at the very least 2600 off the trailer, move that to the drives, then you'd be over weight on the drives by another 1500lbs, soo your gonna have to slide the fifth wheel a few holes and move approx 1500lbs to the steers....whole thing is a headache and not worth it regardless....
synsolo86@reddit
Send it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1;!111
mikestockdale@reddit
No! Not sending! 180 over gross not a problem, but the 36 on trailer definitely a problem. Slide them back if you can, or reload. Most scales won't pass 2k over, so 36 will be a ticket. Don't run it!
AspNSpanner@reddit
This isn’t realy pertinent to the post but I net between 68-86k every day.
Sir_Uncle_Bill@reddit
Depends on what I'm hauling and where I'm going. If it were one I currently do I would shift it really fast and go ahead and go.
Confident-Ear-9388@reddit
That depends on what happens to your steer weight if move 8 holes closer to the front to balance your drive and trailer tandems. You definitely can't leave it the way it is now being two thousand pounds over an axel .You can burn off 180 lbs of fuel in about 3 hours ( I think). A gallon of diesel weights 7 lbs
MostlyUseful@reddit
I would…my trailer has a spread axle
sultrytrucker@reddit
Definitely slide Tandems to put extra weight on drives. If the total weight can be 80,000 it shouldn't be a problem. If you get a ticket. I would definitely have the original driver pay it!
LeveledGarbage@reddit
180lbs over gross? Naw. 2600lbs over on an axle, yeah no.
-Golf-Addict-@reddit
Get out of the truck when you weigh it
Dindu______Nuffin@reddit
Slide the tandems back and slide the fifth wheel forward and it would be legal, of course I'd send it.
Squirrel-27@reddit
Get into an accident being overweight and see what the consequences are. That CDL is your livelihood, and makes you money. Don’t think for a second anyone at that company or in any office is going to be behind you to back you up if anything were to go wrong.. Refuse it and if they fire you, sue the sh*t out of them.
Redmistseeker@reddit
They built a lot of roads that go around scales. Hammer down
Expensive-Plum-5759@reddit
Time to cut down on the steak and go back to beans...
Dorito-Bureeto@reddit
Move that bitch up some and then we good
BigGridzly@reddit
Oh fuck yeah bud. You can lose some of that in fuel, and just show dot a little ankle, you’ll be good.
AreaLeftBlank@reddit
Send it full speed
disturbedrailroader@reddit
Yep. But then again, I'm flatbed and allowed 40k on the rear, so... You probably shouldn't take my advice.
JRock1276@reddit
Back two holes on the trailer and being on your way.
connorbu19@reddit
I’d figure out how to work the tandems so they are both 34k. That will most likely change your gross by just enough to get under 80k and be legal.
Green_Student498@reddit
Throw out that lizard and you’ll be good.
confusedbystupidity@reddit
Was the 5th wheel moved up?
fartinez@reddit
More like 180 degrees back to the shipper
Some_Victory_5499@reddit
Send it
WillBilly_Thehic@reddit
Slide tandems and claim apu/epu weight or run it and night
jgremlin_@reddit
All depends on who pays the ticket. If the company says send it AND they're willing to put in writing (texts will suffice) that they will pay the ticket if a ticket happens (because it likely will), then send it. But if the company isn't willing to cut that check then tell them you ain't moving until a solution is found.
okron1k@reddit
i'd run with that gross and burn off the fuel, but i would move my 5th wheel up a notch or two, and trailer axle back a couple holes.
ReinkDesigns@reddit
Yea, right back to the shipper to get it reworked
SuperChaos002@reddit
Lose 180 lbs of fat and you're good.
Shadow9x7Dragon1@reddit
Adjust your tandems if you can to even it out then send it. If you can't, yeah, go have a few pallets taken off
Own_Recognition_2994@reddit
slide it to the front and ride
coolborder@reddit
100% I'm sending it... but I also have overweight permits for 100,000lbs.
Technical-Wasabi9118@reddit
Yall would shit yourself if you saw a scale ticket for a fuel hauler 🤣
Grimol1@reddit
If you get 7 mpg, you’ll burn off 180 pounds in 210 miles, a little over 3 hours highway time. But I’m not a trucker so I don’t know the risks.
conchoandlefty@reddit
Laughes In 105,000. 😂😂😂 Easterners, yall are funny
BRS616@reddit
100% send. You're within the percentage of allowance.
FreeAndRedeemed@reddit
Bro’s 2600 over on his tandems.
No_Inflation7432@reddit
Shouldn't this discussion include where your pins are, how much fuel you have, distance to scale, and presence, or lack of apu.
FirstAmendment68@reddit
Burn off some fuel before the first weigh station
rigjiggles@reddit
I don’t think fuel will much effect on th rear tandem that’s 2,600 over right?
firemarshalbill316@reddit
Send it back.
artoftheflatlands@reddit
That’s 26 gallons of fuel
AreYouGoingToEatThat@reddit
Id fuck with it because turning around over 180 lbs isn’t worth it, however I’d consider blackening this shipper.
Azmin-@reddit
If you have a functional apu with the apu certification in case DOT ASK, you can apply 500lbs of that apu to whichever you want. Steers, drives, tandems. Shift your weight and don’t run more fuel than you need to to be really safe. That shit happened to me 3 wks ago was freaking out having to go from PA back to AZ
Row30@reddit
Just FYI- not all states have an APU allowance
Azmin-@reddit
Didn’t know that!
Row30@reddit
There’s a chart midway down this website-
APU allowance
BeenThruIt@reddit
That load is a mess. Driver who took it is a numbskull. You need 2600 lbs off the trailer axle and nearly a grand onto your drives.
Where'd they run out of hours, right before a scalehouse?
Green_Lawyer_1049@reddit
2600 over on an axle ...no 180 over on gross ...yes did it today
HowlingWolven@reddit
Psh just brake hard
nastyzoot@reddit
Friday afternoon....weekend driving in early spring? I'm rolling the dice. How many DOTs you think play golf?
TheBOSS_AMA@reddit
I'd send it. I'd send worse if having it reworked would be much of an inconvenience. However, I know my way around damn near every scale within the lanes I run. Also, I run at night while the scales are sleeping. Lastly, I'll blow a scale. My company will pay my tickets, although I've done well to avoid having that happen. It still throws dirt on my license.
Crushed_95@reddit
If you get caught in Illinois. You will get a ticket and you will be put out-of-service until you get it legal. Sometimes that means having a wrecker company come out and correct your load.
kit_eubanks@reddit
If you can move at 10 holes and they're not in California send it
The_Richuation@reddit
Shift the extra weight to the drives. You'll burn it off.
Jeep2king@reddit
If its adjustable id adjust it.
Fair_Replacement3907@reddit
If your tandems are all the way forward take it back. That's a simple solution...oh and the only solution. You can't fix it. Or you can run it and pay the ticket.
BrodieGod@reddit
Nah but they told me if you can adjust it and go over by like 500 or under 1000 pounds they’ll let you slide. But this was Oklahoma
darvin41387@reddit
With out the driver
xur_ntte@reddit
Get out the truck bet its legal
Down2EatPossum@reddit
Do you have an APU?
EntireRace8780@reddit
2600lbs over on the trailer is a pretty big ticket. Even if you were under gross, you’d get a ticket.
Creative_Shame3856@reddit
Florida? No prob. Alabama? F'n BIG prob.
lgmorrow@reddit
2600 over on the trailer...no way.....getit right or take it back....2600 overweight on the trailer, per pound is going to be expensive
ConsequenceSweaty241@reddit
Nope reloading

LockportTrans@reddit
No way
RealSharpNinja@reddit
How much fuel do you have?
krusteePickleCheeze@reddit
I'd give it a hard brake check and send it
TillPlayful@reddit
*drives across the scale. Scale house cop: Jesus Christ, it's Jason Bourne...
Definitive_confusion@reddit
Remove all the inner wheels on the trailer... Nothing to worry about at all...
Tasty_Explorer_6910@reddit
Take 1600 off the back
TellTaleTimeLord@reddit
You'll burn more than that off in fuel
Nghtyhedocpl@reddit
Just readjust bodies so that extra weight is on drives. 60 gallons overweight will burn off.
ahatchr1@reddit
Absolutely not😉
trakr24@reddit
If it was a split axle, absolutely. I’d say that would be pretty balanced. Tandems? Fuck no. But if you can slide, slide them bitches back
CashWideCock@reddit
Yes, if it’s a spread axle or 3+ axle trailer.
Idiotwithaphone79@reddit
Hell yeah. If the load pays enough, I'll just stop for fuel more times and keep it at half a tank instead of full. I'd also take it if I knew I could get a good back haul to make up for the time lost at the fuel island.
D3V1L5_4DV0C4T3@reddit
Just route around weigh stations, it ain't rocket science.
GlomBastic@reddit
I was overweight at the FL GA line. I just slow to 5mph, pull the horn, then take off before the scale master wakes up.
Thegdog_@reddit
I did with 84k gvw and 39k on drives 😆
AroundGoesThe18@reddit
Noooope. That's an instant ticket and white glove inspection at a scale house.
Wide-Engineering-396@reddit
Most scale masters only weight trucks and check paper work fyi
jordspence4@reddit
Good to go if it's a spread axle
Wide-Engineering-396@reddit
All day
Vino1980@reddit
Sending it back to the shipper yeah.
DependentPlace5534@reddit
Slide 5 holes back,,, should be good
Mikey_BC@reddit
10 holes roughly
Mikey_BC@reddit
If you can slide trailer axles back 10 holes then yeah, run it. You're 2600 pounds over on the trailer.
Zealousideal-Gas1998@reddit
On & Gone 💯
derricklofton73@reddit
Nope
Eimar586@reddit
Get out of the truck when they weigh it
brettny585@reddit
Depends where and how far, usually no. If tandems are all the way forward and they messed up that bad not a chance.
Cardinal_350@reddit
Is fucking run it. Move 1000 forward and burn the fuel.off. I pulled over axle for years on tankers and never got bothered once under gross
freedom_seed5-45x39@reddit
I'm More worried those tandems than the etra 180 on gross. You can burn that pretty quick with that much weight going down the highway. Hopefully this is with your tanks full
RoadRatzzz@reddit
No.....even if you could slide tandems back you don't have room on drives to take that much
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
Fuck no. Take it back to remove cargo. Loading trailers legally is their fucking job.
APU exemption doesn't apply to tandem axles, and fuck them if they think they can take advantage of my APU to ship another dozen units anyway.
Conscious_Grass_853@reddit
You better start running on the treadmill
Terrible_Try3832@reddit
If it's a split Axel fine. If it's not them hopefully you weighed full and can burn 30 ish gallons before you get to Port. If you see a port.
Professor_Game1@reddit
Diesel fuel is 7 lbs a gallon. So you need to burn 26 gallons to be under. You can take your MPG and figure out how far you need to drive
plunger-tx@reddit
Sure with a spread axle trailer
EuphoricTruck4007@reddit
Go at nighttime when the scales are closed.
BosunKraken@reddit
Shift the extra to the drives. You’ll burn off fuel, plus you have some leeway if you’ve got an APU. Run that baby on fumes 😂
JustAGuyTrynaSurvive@reddit
Not enough info to say. Would be legal on a spread axle with Apu exemption. Also would be legal in Wyoming if you are registered for it. Almost legal in Florida even on tandems.
TheGamingMann43@reddit
I would try to get more of that trailer axle weight onto the drives. I could see that being a ticket.
