While I think it's good not to have double standards for imported vs domestic cars, less regulation on self driving cars is probably not the way to go, and its very suspicious that it just happens to be right at the moment its beneficial to tesla.

So if I get killed by the robot it's not the robot's fault?
Averyphotog@reddit
It doesn’t matter because no report need be filed. Move along. Nothing to see here.
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
I’m shocked. Shocked I say.
Free_Broccoli_804@reddit
Well not that shocked.
WeBornToHula@reddit
Wonder who that's aimed to benefit
Free_Broccoli_804@reddit
Definitively not Mushy Musky.
KeyboardGunner@reddit
It's a mystery 🤔
jojowasher@reddit
what does it matter? Tesla doesn't bother with safety standards anyway, and the other players in the market are using other people's cars.
tech01x@reddit
Exactly what safety standards does Tesla not bother with?
Twombls@reddit
This rule change basically only allows tesla to skirt the rules. Its a little silly.
HighHokie@reddit
What?
_ash_panda_@reddit
Quick read but it's exactly what you think it is.

I was going to "you mean Musk", but that is actually what you said.
funked1@reddit
Be a shame if someone set those cars on fire.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
just as tesla plans to move into the business in the coming months … what a coincidence!
WyoGuy2@reddit
On the substance: is there any good reasons that the old status quo where only American cars were subject to theirs requirement made sense?
That seems like something bought by a foreign lobbyist.
itaos1@reddit
Of course it does
