Was riding normal only had for 2 months any suggestions on what's wrong with it?
Non-mon-xiety@reddit
It’s a hub motor, the chain doesn’t have anything to do with driving the bike outside of pedaling.
It’s something clearly broken about the hub motor. Either the gears or maybe the axle. Either way power is entering the motor but the motor isn’t turning the wheel so it’s something physically wrong and not an electrical issue.
Then-Independence52@reddit
Yes it can only be that or if there is some kind of clutch to make the bike less hard to pedal which is the trigger or engaged
Thelastbro420@reddit (OP)
No clutch on it no electric bike has one
Then-Independence52@reddit
If some which use autonomous recharging to facilitate pedaling are equipped with an automatic clutch

Thanks waiting to hear back from the company on Amazon plus sent a email to their website! Only reason I mentioned the chain is cause the PAS is on and when on the ground it doesn’t even pedal like it isn’t catching the chain but off the ground it does catch the chain. Just something I find weird I guess.

Its a geared hub motor... lol yea it's shredded good luck

Good thing is I can have Amazon step in and force at least a partial refund! I can just get a new back wheel with motor in it and swap them out for $400 so that’s not bad. I think they sell the motor separate but they never answer emails.

Let me give you a piece of information you broke the bike it did not break you broke it you were just throttling and didn't use the pedals and you tore the motor up that's what happened that's what always happens cuz it's plastic inside there you can't just throttle like you think you can you need to actually pedal so on your next one good luck to you

Sounds like the planetary gear set broke. You can get upgraded cogs so it doesn't happen again but not for the normal rider to replace.
Thelastbro420@reddit (OP)
So like upgrading the motor? Yea that sounds like a little much lol just need them to send a new motor frfr but this is why people get the surrons and eride pros! Really a stupid design flaw to put the motor in the wheel. Every bump must be trying to destroy it
isysopi201@reddit
Your hub motor insides probably look like this:

You can buy replacement cogs made of metal or reinforced nylon to repair yours but taking apart the motor is sometimes tricky. The design is good for high torque at low speeds but you cant put too much pressure on the standard cogs, the teeth just strip away.

You were right ! Their engineer said it was the clutch assembly so they are sending a new one I guess I have to put in lol! If I were to get new steel ones put in it any idea where I would go to get them fitted perfectly? Maybe a motorcycle supply store could do it?

Ok so update and new problem guys! The company responded and is sending a new clutch assembly, from the videos that’s what their engineer said is wrong! Now my new problem is I have everything ready to take the tire off, power cord unhooked and all, but the chain is tight. How do I remove the chain? In their YouTube video it comes off so easy so what am I missing? Thanks for the help!

My GT53 has less than 100 miles on it and I owed it for four months and stopped working after hitting a small pothole. I'm starting to wonder whether or not the riding'times brand is any good.
Thelastbro420@reddit (OP)
Yea I prolly shouldn’t have been hitting curbs like I was, but I wanted to ride it out, for scientific purposes of course, before the warranty ran out. It’s def cheap Chinese made but has a good frame and shouldn’t be hard to swap stuff out to fix! Did they ever help with the repair? What happened when you emailed them? Did you buy straight from the website?
shoulderdeepinghost@reddit
It wasn't a curb, mate—more like a slight hollow in the middle of the road. It’s probably about the same as taking a gentle bump on a dirt road, which is why I’m a little concerned. I purchased the bike from the riding'times seller on Amazon, and I’ve been in contact with them through their website. Recent emails indicate that they plan to send the replacement parts needed for repairs. Overall, I’d say their customer service has been good, though it has taken some time. The bike suits my needs very well, so I truly hope I can restore it with the parts they send.
It appears that some of the wires may have gotten caught between the soft seat and the metal plate it sits on—just above the brushless control unit. The unit itself also seems to be slightly bowed out on the side where the wiring harness exits, connecting to the rest of the system. There’s no visible damage to the wiring elsewhere, so I believe the issue is near the connections under the seat.

I meant what I hit was just curbs. I can’t lie I abuse my bikes but I expect it to hold up at least while it’s under warranty. Well hopefully they send your parts, I still have t heard back from the seller on Amazon or through their email on the website.
