What can I do to help?

I've never posted in this subreddit before, and maybe this is kind of a stupid question, but everything I'm finding myself online is too vague to be genuinely actionable. I want to know what I can do or how I can get involved in conservation and activism for whales. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If you live near the coast, you could volunteer in various environmental cleanups.
As JennShrum23 has mentioned, you should also consider supporting various whale conservation/research/education/rescue/rehabilitation organizations by donating to or even buying merchandise from these groups. Some of the following groups focus on orca conservation, particularly that of the Southern Residents, but there are also other groups that work with other marine mammals:

Are you in the US? Write to your local government officials about protecting these animals and their habitats. The Marine Mammal Protection Act, US Fish and Wildlife Dept, and NOAA are all vital in protecting whales (and their prey) and are all in danger of being dismantled by the Trump Administration. Write to your local government officials and tell them that it is important to you as a citizen that they protect them, their habitat, and the ocean at large. Ensuring that we have local, national and international policies and regulations that cover these issues is the most important thing each of us can do to protect them from future harm.

I am Biggs into Orcas..(couldn’t help myself) and I support the whale museum in Friday Harbor because they do a lot for the residents pods.
Honestly the way most of us can support is thru donation and advocacy to support and research groups. Support whale watching with companies that have research ties.

If you live on a coast (or near river dolphins or porpoises) you could check with a local museum and see if they know of anything, also try local Facebook groups. What sort of thing are you hoping for?
