Anyone else watch Villa Alegre when they were little? This intro music was stuck in my head for years until i figured out what it was.

Yah that Villa Allegre song was quite the earworm. Hearing it now inside my head!

Woohoo lol! So cool to see Villa Allegre here! That intro song is a real earworm! Wow, so happy to see other people remember this 😀

I watched this show all the time (grew up in Western PA). IIRC it was on around Sesame Street and the Electric Company. It taught me how to count to 100 in Spanish.
I remember showing off my newfound language abilities to my grandparents...who were horrified I was speaking another language. "Where did you learn that???" "WTF are you watching???" "You don't need to know Spanish!!!" God forbid children in the US learn a second language. LOL

The same for me (but I was in So Cal) - I actually thought it was like the Spanish version of Sesame Street or Electric Company and when I was older I would ask my peers if they remember the Spanish hour of the shows, lol no wonder they looked at me like I was crazy 🙃
Out of all my native English speaking siblings - I am the only one who held on to the 2nd language (Spanish obviously for me) that we all learned in school from jr high to 2 years in college, and I credit this show with giving me the foundation to maintain the language longer, albeit with some added effort and interest on my part 👍🏻👊🏻

Loved it too. Might be one of the only kid “educational” shows I did watch much. I think I probably crushed on one of the girls on the show.
That damn show got me in trouble. One episode, one of the kids helped their parents with dinner by putting some beans in foil outside to let the sun heat them (you know because kids shouldn’t be using the stove). I tried the same thing with a can of pork ‘n beans and put the foil on the hood of the car.
A few hours later my dad is screaming and cussing in front yard. Who the hell put these god damn beans on the car?
They had leaked from one side down the hood and side of the car which led to the car then being covered with ants.

Yep, I knew the tune instantly when I saw this. And I think it still pops into my head every now and then, unrelated to anything.

The moment I saw the photo the theme music started going through my head: da da da da da da, da da da da da VIA ALLEGRE!

Dude! I didn't think so, but this music is SO familiar.

It stuck with me throughout the years and I never knew what it was until i did some heavy research. The melody went in and out of my head for 50 years.

I watched, but I only remember the song and that it was about Spanish-speaking people.

I loved this show and "Carrascolendas" as well...

This was something that was barely on, and on public TV, when I was a kid. This and the HR Puffinstuff show were amazing to me as a very little kid in the 70s.

something about that music, for real. Did it to me too

This is so weird, I was JUST thinking of this this morning after not having done so in decades. One day they should do a study on the Gen-X telepathic hivemind

Yes! I grew up with this show- loved it so much . I always thought it was nationwide til most of my NorCal friends said they never heard of it. Thanks for the share- made my Friday!
