Something usual for us Malaysians, it's my 2023 Proton Saga Premium S

Currently saving up money to get a set of suspension for my car, i want to lowered it so bad too...
crimesonclaw@reddit
It's.. so tiny, for some reason. it's like.. something is wrong with the proportions. Don't get me wrong, I drive a Polo and that's actually small.
A sedan should be a bit longer imo
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Honestly in south east asia there's a lot of these small sedans around, their proportion is kinda weird a lot of the times. This one that i owned is one of the better looking ones out there.
EL_Chapo_Cuzzin@reddit
Comically disproportion.
AeroHydroTerra@reddit
It looks like it’s constantly braking.
Z4p-R0wsdower@reddit
Maybe just put some bigger wheels on it? It looks like a shopping cart, lowered or not.
Drzhivago138@reddit
A lot of SE Asian cars have disproportionately small wheel+tires. Toyota Avanza
Ran4@reddit
That's just normal sized rims for regular economy cars?
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
You're right man, but to be fair our streets are tiny and we don't really need a much bigger wheeled car here as the potholes are crazy
MyNameisJDN@reddit
Don’t small wheels do worse with potholes because they fall in further? I’m Canadian and the seasons here make roads just fall apart so we have lots of
uncleawesome@reddit
You mean they don't have 22"? How do they get anywhere?
DJMagicHandz@reddit
Bigger wheels can't fix that roof line.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
These are 15s and to be honest, for the car's engine size this wheel size is already have quite a rolling resistance. I saw somebody put 16s on it but i would have to do sone engine mods to balance it out i guess.
For now 15s lowered doesn't look half bad really, there are some really cool setup that makes me drool.
Dazvsemir@reddit
just enjoy it with its limitations, I wouldn't mod a car starting with a 1.3L with 95hp. Its going to be fine as it is from the factory. Save the money for a bigger car in the future.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Well this one for me is a good car to begin my journey in discovering more seriois tuning stuff, plus it's fun to drive i don't know whether i will sell it in the future or not.
But really a simple set of wheels and drop should be fine for me, mostly cosmetics i think
nickN42@reddit
I'm so sorry for you Malaysians.
lizhien@reddit
You should see the Singaporeans. >$100k SGD just to be able to buy a car. That's not including the cost of the car.
Source: I am Singaporean. Cars are only for the very very rich here.
Hello to my Malaysian friends! 👋
HippoEug@reddit
Yeah shit sucks! Buying an old 15+ year old car is also expensive as hell!
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Nah nothing bro, in fact the way this car drives is actually not bad for a small car. Plus it's our national car brand so I'm still proud of being the owner of this car.
KderNacht@reddit
Isn't Proton Chinese nowadays ?
sharinganuser@reddit
I actually got a chance to drive a Proton last time I was in Kota Kinabalu - it was an interesting experience for sure.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Well comparing to the Perodua Bezza, which is this car's main rival, this one has much better handling than the prior
Fact0ry0fSadness@reddit
Looks like something out of BeamNG
Hackedv12@reddit
Just found out that the Saga is actually based off a Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore platform and the 1.3 litre engine was co-developed by Lotus
Endlessssss@reddit
It’s sharp looking except the tiny wheels, but given its power that may be for the best.
Spend the money elsewhere- if it must be for the car get your audio/interior right instead of performance/exterior. Lowering will cause headaches (former lowered truck enjoyer)
-Juuzousuzuya-@reddit
this is so closefrom beingso pretty but the oroportions are off.. the front looks like the 'bmws' from the crash time video game series
Gertrude1976@reddit
interesting, I haven't seen a big-window tiny wheels car this new before. I gotta get out more
ScottyJoon@reddit
The proportions... They're just so... Wrong
csbsju_guyyy@reddit
It's like someone took a picture of a C-class and let AI resize it
oscik@reddit
Wheels are way too big.
kamikaze_punk@reddit
Tbh your rims are fine, you should look into getting some fatter tires.
Are the roads fit for lowered cars, is something you really should ask yourself. Maybe try with some lowering springs if you can do it yourself, should be a cheap way of lowering your car.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Currently i feel like the tyres are quite fat enough, the roads here are ok for lowered cars if you're not over lowered.
Honestly I've been looking for cheap springs too, however after much thinking i think I'll prefer to just buy a new set with warranties on them
kamikaze_punk@reddit
That’s cool. Just really think the wheels would look a lot better if they had some fatter tires. Would also improve ride quality.
sawoPL@reddit
The car itself looks not bad, specially for an entry level.
But those wheels looks just ridiculous there. Waaaay to small. Looks kinda funny and not in a good way.
RustyDodge@reddit
The front gives Holden Commodore
halcyon_andon@reddit
Looks good. And nice features for the price. It’s a great value like we don’t have in the US. The cheapest car we can buy new in the us is now the Nissan versa at over 18k usd.
SteelFlexInc@reddit
Does Nutella work as motor oil in it tho?
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
i assume yes? if the goober can do it, then maybe this one can? until the hazelnut got your engine of course.
SteelFlexInc@reddit
Just take out the head gasket so the Pepsi and Nutella can mix
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Haha, but for real tho i wonder how's the goober now, did James and Wade ever get it going again?
ryosuccc@reddit
Hell yeah they did! Its running on 40W-70 “shitbox oil” and the most horrific rebuild known to man. All the cam bolts are bunnings bolts, reused head gasket, reused stretching headbolts just rattlegunned in, not torqued properly, valve cover gasket made entirely of JB weld and re used the spun bearings too. And it still runs!!
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
I guess my country's own developed engine had some benefits then? it can be fix with duct tape and it'll work nonetheless
ryosuccc@reddit
Which is a freakin miracle since LOTUS had a hand in it! Every engine lotus touched immediately dies usually.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
I guess our side of the partnership said no to Lotus fiddle with the engine, they just let Lotus do the handing part
ryosuccc@reddit
Its the Goobers younger cousin!!
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Except mine doesn't run on Pepsi coolant and Nutella engine oil
Simoxs7@reddit
Oh nice its you again, glad you enjoy that car.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Well not much had changed since last time, except that i changed the exhaust from super loud to just normal with a bit of noise.
davidcloud_@reddit
Love to see Malaysian car culture! Not many Americans know about Proton, I find them very cool 😎 Nice car bro 👍
dghhgfffredxcvjjhg@reddit
Imagine it with even smaller wheels — it would look absolutely hilarious! 😂
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
The base version of this car did have 14s for fuel saving drivers and buyers, the most base manual variant omly had steel wheels with hubcaps
dghhgfffredxcvjjhg@reddit
Omg! The car looks nice, but I’m really used to bigger wheels. I didn’t realize that the size of the wheels could make a car look so funny!
Hopeful-Cup8826@reddit
Reminds me of a T-Rex 🦖
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
Well it's a budget sedan for developing markets, this is the most they can do with limitations on the platform
Hopeful-Cup8826@reddit
I understand that, I wasn’t trying to be rude.
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
You know what, instead if a t rex, i thi.k my car looks more like a stegosaurus
Hopeful-Cup8826@reddit
Hahahahha
TurboLover427@reddit
Very naice. 😎😎😎
arup02@reddit
nice man
Datbluemyvidude@reddit (OP)
👊🏼 Thanks man
