Ukraine’s Zelenskiy lands in South Africa for talks on ties, peace efforts

Zelenskiy on Wednesday said there needed to be an immediate, full and unconditional ceasefire with Moscow repeating that Ukraine did not rule out any format of talks that could lead to a ceasefire.

But amid media reports about the U.S. proposal, Zelenskyy said the idea of ceding territory — including Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula, seized by Russia more than a decade ago — is a nonstarter.

“There is nothing to talk about — it is our land, the land of the Ukrainian people,” Zelenskyy said.

Looks like ruling out something that could lead to a ceasefire to me. And then there's still this pesky constitutional amendment that forbids any talks with Russia in the first place that hasn't been rescinded despite all of this rhetoric.

All of this is about appearances and PR. Got to get that "rest of the world unanimously united against Russia" I guess, Even if it makes no sense and doesn't actually help anything.

You don't need to win if you can just make everyone think that you've won, or winning.
