What do I do about this as a temporary "fix"?

I know the only real fix is to get it re-upholstered, but I'm back in school right now and funds are limited.
I'm doing a seat recolor using Seat Doctors leather dye and top coat, would like to address this while I'm at it. I bought some leather crack filler, but I didn't really realize how bad this was until I pulled it out of the car.
Should I just slather on leather filler until it looks relatively even? Should I sand down what is there until it's even and then just dye on top of that?
Doesn't need to be perfect, but would like it to be better than what it is right now.

90s audi seats?

Try to see if lseat.com has a cover for it.
I know what you’re thinking…but it’s not really a cover. It’s a replacement. You take the original leather off and replace it with the new one from lseat

I would absolutely leave it or get a set of good seat covers.

Brass wire brush on a dremel to take the pleather off, then dye it black with t shirt dye and call it felt.

I picked up a set of really nice seat covers on Amazon for like $50.

Junkyard/secondhand seats, slap on seat covers, or get them professionally re-covered.
If you're looking for a temporary fix knowing you will have the money to eventually fix it properly, why bother spending time and money on the temp fix?

Go to a junkyard and find some seats that fit or get some seat covers or just ignore it. Leather filler isn't going to work on that much wear.

It's an E31 840 or 850

You can get spray paints made for leather seats. Clean well before and you can get amazing results. I have used the one from motip with great success

Deep clean them first, using some kind of alcohol based cleaner very lightly on any stains then use a leather rejuvenation product and then the filler
It's never going to look perfect and if you could afford it replacing the covers would be easier but if that's not an option and you don't mind spending time on this project it's the way to do it

Anything temporary is going to look like shit.
Like, I get it's worn. But who cares? It's not ripped, it's just used.
