Continuing on the steam speedster.

Good evening, folks! A few of you asked for an update as I made progress, so here we are.

I've finally found a good set of original Model A wheels, so I can actually get a feel for the proportions of the vehicle. Ignore the ride height, it's currently on jack stands.

I've fabricated a lot of parts since my last post, including most of the rear wishbone, rear spring crossmember, and the clamshell for the differential. Since I'll be chain driving the rear axle, I needed a way to get the chain into & out of the differential housing without losing all the fluid. I came across the Harley Davidson Servi-car, which used a two piece housing to retain differential grease and mount a sprocket. I replicated that design for my axle.

The next thing I need to tackle is fabricating the CVT. I'm going to build it using two large variator pulleys that I found for a good price. I need to use a CVT because my steam engine is built with a simple valve gear that will prefer one constant speed. If engine speed is constant, then my gear ratio needs to be variable.
