Carbon fiber go kart ninja 250

Found this community from somebody that said you guys would appreciate this which is badass!
this project has taken me two years so far it’s extremely labor intensive, this go kart is 100% carbon fiber from the axle to the frame and I put a ninja 250 street bike engine in it.
I’m reaching on on here to find new subscribers to my tiny YouTube channel “Build&break” for people that find this stuff interesting I’ll post a link. I’d recommend watching the shorts

Your damn right😂😂 you already got some dislikes on that comment so you know they are you there🤣
Coalecanth_@reddit
I think he's talking about our regulations. Not us as a people.
I find your project great, looks sick and has to handle amazing too if well made.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Your right!! lol And thank you
phein4242@reddit
Actually .. dutchie here .. I would love to see this thing close up :p
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Right haha😂😂
autocol@reddit
Why did you build a tube-fabricated style design with a material I would've thought was more ideally suited to a panelled monocoque?
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
That was my first attempt and it failed this ended up 10x stronger
KdF-wagen@reddit
When you do joints do you use a tube notcher like usual and then wrap in fabric and resin? What about for bolts that passthrough the tube do you sleeve the hole then wrap it? That thing is a fucking weapon that’s for sure.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Yeah I cut them ends so that they fit perfectly flush on the joints and where there is bolts I made it solid carbon fiber all the way through where there is bolts, and thank you!!
babieswithRPGs@reddit
slide 10 jumpscare lmao what is that
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
😂😂 I had that in my phone prior I was sending that to my nephew as a joke to mess with him lol
adornoheemeyer@reddit
Is the cat certified to operate this vehicle
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Oh yeah he owns that vehicle
adornoheemeyer@reddit
Guy looks skilled enough give him a paw fist
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Haha hell yeah😂 and super floofy
adornoheemeyer@reddit
I know that look from the 9th slide get ready to be jumped on brother hahahdha
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
😂😂
dumbname0192837465@reddit
Thats cool as fuck! Hope you survive it!
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Haha thank you!
Sulipheoth@reddit
How do you ensure the structural integrity of the carbon? I've heard it's pretty easy to get wrong especially if you have any air in the resin.
Also what does it weigh?
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
That is true, I’ve been working with carbon fiber for over 5 years and everything with done with HTE system which tested 3 layers snapped at 190lb on a 1” fulcrum which would convert to like 2200ft/lbs of torque every foot so this should be able to carry even a 300lb person with ease. And that is a very good question not everybody knows how tedious this stuff can be
TheRealSparkleMotion@reddit
As a former composite fabricator who used to worked with this stuff a lot... Jesus.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Yeah it looks like pain in the ass lol
NuclearWasteland@reddit
Clearly you've thought about this a lot, thanks for the info.
With fall harnesses, they need to be rated for the dynamic load of a construction worker and tools falling, ends up being something like 1900 lbs, not just the workers weight.
How do you figure on dynamic loading of this, or do your calculations account for that already?
Just curious what it takes to figure that out, suspension and such is fascinating.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Just seen this, I calculate the load based off torque, torque is defined as load multiplied by distance so if I suspend a load on 1ft tube of carbon fiber for example if 100lbs of weighs snaps a 1ft tube of carbon fiber that means it broke at 100 ft pounds of torque. In my case my frame should take 2200 lbs / ft of torque off my test sample
something-clever----@reddit
That’s just shear loading though.
If you are gunna get on this you need to do a metric shit load more math and destructive testing. What happens to your shear loading when it also has a torque applied to it like the front corners will in a corner with decent grip? And if that corner has a lot hole in it? So you have force applied on x y and z at the same time dynamically along with the vibrations the road and the motor introduce.
Don’t get me wrong this is cool… it’s cool as hell and I want one if the math and the testing check out.
We saw not to long ago someone else using carbon in a place it hadn’t really been before it’s not always the magic material it seems to be. Please double and triple check your math and run it by a second set of eyes with very conservative thresholds for go no go. And full safety’s when taking it for a go, remember carbon shatters or fuzzes out if you are lucky you don’t want to be picking carbon and gravel out of road rash if it fails. Trust me gravel alone sucks ass.

Oh appreciate it but I’m confident I know what I’m doing i went to college for mechanical engineering for 3 and half years with a 4.0 gpa I’m not saying I’m smart but I’m not stupid and far from it
NuclearWasteland@reddit
Neat.
Really curious to see the failures here, if any, there always seem to be some on any project.
Will be very informative.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
I agree! Allot of this has never been seen so it’s really experimental but I didn’t short cut anything or go cheap so I have high hopes
NuclearWasteland@reddit
I mean, I've certainly boogied on sketchier rides, lol.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
And same
NuclearWasteland@reddit
Those "every bump sounds like a rainstick of rust flakes under the carpet tumbling away down the road" kinda hoopties.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Haha hell yeah!
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Thank you I appreciate it!
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
And the frame weighs about 50lb and that includes absolutely everything without considering the engine but I’ll do I final weigh in when it’s complete might end up heavier then that now
SensationalSavior@reddit
I mean, cool cart, but lemme see more of that cat.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Honestly I count agree more!
Best fe-lion I ever done seen. Floofy as hell
SensationalSavior@reddit
I love them. Give them a psspsspssp for me!
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
😂😂😂 I’m in another state for a new more days I miss tf out of him! lol
flacoman954@reddit
That's going to go like shit off a shovel
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Hell yeah 😂😂
yesjames@reddit
a gentlemen i know built a carbon fiber roll cage with carbon tubes and chromoly bends that connects the ends of the carbon fiber tubes together to form a cage. he aimed to ensure structural integrity as bends are usually the weak spots for carbon. i have no idea if that design worked or not but i certainly looked very cool, just like your build.
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Thank you! I like to hear things like that. Sounds awesome I can’t wait to see where its faults are and where I can do better when I take it for a spin
Presenthings@reddit
Dang that’s impressive, both in the build and in dedication ! How much does it weigh with engine included ?
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Thank you! With the engine and everything weighs a solid 100lbs
Presenthings@reddit
That’s gonna be one zippy kart, that’s a pretty impressive ratio of fun per dangerous ahaha I’m gonna follow your channel, I’ll be waiting for the first runs and numbers !!
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Hell yeah I really appreciate that!! I’m on vacation when soon as I’m back here I’m like 5 days I’ll have allot to put together on that thing I want it all ready to drive in next couple weeks
PreferenceContent987@reddit
That’s sick. You’re a psycho, but the good kind of psycho
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Haha thanks bro lmao
southwestpessimist@reddit
Nice car
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Thank you! lol
SirCrimsonKing@reddit
Subbed and all notis on!
stokerfam@reddit
fake news. Tires are not carbon fiber. not 100%
Born-Character-6166@reddit (OP)
Well…you are right😂😂
Imaginary_Rhubarb179@reddit
Impressive work, and cute cat
