So by the endmof the conflcit did the ltte just lose momentum or did the gov collect some victories?

LTTE got ass-blasted. I have a pretty thorough analysis of that if you're interested.

almost 3 decades of war isn't ass blasted. the last battle (jaffna siege) lasted more than 2 months, with all of Sri Lankan top commanders being killed.

War lastefd 26 years only due to cease fire agreements. 3 times terrorists fooled the sri lankan govenment with peace nagotiators of Norway, Canada, UK and Japan. That's why there were 4 wars.
1st Eelam war: 23 July 1983 – 29 July 1987
2nd Eelam war: June 10, 1990 – January 1995
3rd Eelam war: 19 April 1995 – 22 February 2002
4th Eelam war: 26 July 2006 – 18 May 2009
All the times, terrorist used those peace times to regroup, rearm. They never wanted peace. So when the 4th eelam war started they got fucked up by the army.
That is why dispite all the shitfuckeries rajapaksas have done, people still respect them. They ended it once and for all.
Unlike all previous 3 times, LTTE couldn't have any peaceful day during 4th eelam war because war continued 365 days and 24/7. Nothing could stop army's advance in 4th eelam war.

By the end of the Sri Lankan Civil War in 2009, the LTTE didn’t just lose momentum ,they were decisively and militarily defeated by the Sri Lankan government forces. From around 2006 onwards, the Sri Lankan government, launched a full-scale military campaign to end the war. This was a shift from earlier periods of ceasefires and negotiations. The Sri Lankan military systematically captured LTTE-held territory, including major strongholds in the North and East. Major cities like Kilinochchi (the LTTE’s administrative capital) and Mullaitivu fell to the government forces. The turning point was in May 2009, when LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and almost the entire top leadership were killed. Without its centralized command structure, the LTTE collapsed. The government declared total victory on May 18, 2009. The LTTE, as a fighting force, was annihilated not just weakened or in retreat. So yes, it was a decisive military victory rather than just the LTTE losing momentum.

It’s crazy how African wars will be 90% post Soviet weaponry like AKs and PKMs but then there’s a few guys with rotary grenade launchers and SCARs running around
Nexerade@reddit
I think I can see some Chinese Norinco guns.
No-Reception8659@reddit (OP)
Yeah,Sri Lankan forces used a lot of Chinese weapons such as Type-80 GPMG,Type-69 RPG,T-56 LMG and T-56-2.

I wonder what rifle #2 is. Ak, FAL? It almost looks like the wooden stock folds , the front sight reminds me of the HK 91.
Snookin1972@reddit
Definitely a FAL variant, looks like an Israeli HB model with some aftermarket stuff added.
