Am I late to reddit?!! In 2025

I just started using reddit around 2 to 3 months and I am enjoying it so much this days even better than other social media... I mean I saw really weird and on other hand really great stuff now I'm having FOMO that I missed all those years on reddit could've had so much fun..

old.reddit.com. Experience the greatness while it’s still available.

I'm honestly here because there's no good alternative. Same with YouTube and the internet in general. 2007-2010 was peak

I’ve been here awhile. Started with Digg. Was part of the great migration when it was sold. Been on Digg or Reddit close to half my life (in my 50s now).
Mostly a lurker, but I lurk every day. I find it as good and as useful as it ever was. I still find new subreddits that make me smile. Fewer that make me think, but that’s probably because I subbed to those early on. People complain about spez but the used to complain about Ellen Pao. Were there cute things like narwhals and Boaty McBoatface that I don’t see so much anymore…sure, but now I see other things. I honestly think people are more politically aware than they used to be. Which may sound nuts, but, in my opinion, it’s true.
Maybe it was more fun. Maybe it wasn’t. If you like it now then welcome, enjoy, be kind and helpful and you will have a good time.

You are, unfortunately. Reddit used to be very good.
Now, having FOMO over this is a little too much.

Honestly, kind of.
Imo, reddits peak was vaguely around 2010. The fun vibes can still be found today, but its steadily been going downhill. Divisive politics used to be contained to subs where people look for politics, but now you can barely go to hobby or niche subreddits without people railroading the conversation to anger and name calling every day over whatever is going on in the news, which is very un-fun.
You can still find a few good subs, usually smaller ones. Once they hit a certain size, its kinda doomed.
Its like you could get into some niche shit like /r/gothknitting (or just goofy niche memes) and it be awesome, have its own inside jokes, meta humour, people would be positive, wholesome, helpful, and awesome, so it grows, and then it hits x# of subscribers...suddenly the conversation is you being accosted and being called a bigot for not making your life completely centered around being angry all the time amd making calls to action to fight tariffs over the price of yarn or some shit.
Imagine spring break on south padre island, but its the last few days, and suddenly several times a day your just doing beach party shit, and boom, some squad of religious fruitcakes from a youth church is minglling around lecturing people about alcohol, sex before marriage, and getting angry at chicks in bikinis telling them to cover up.
You CAN do your best to ignore it, walk the other direction, find the crowds where those people arent...but the party poopers are literally seeking those spaces out, and now using bots and AI tools, like Karen Sentinels and Ultra-Woke Agent Smiths from the Matrix, so eventually they'll catch up. If you just keep moving, and keep an exit nearby, you can stay ahead of them...but unfortunately, you'll always be on the move and not totally able to get comfortable like ~2010.

Ultra-woke agents smiths are real.
ActionQuakeII@reddit
Lmfaoo Agent Smiths. Oh yeah, true words.

And apparently it's very hard to post a question on reddit my question got deleted twice in other subreddits but I did it on random subreddit and that was one of those who hate it haha
SpoonFed_1@reddit
It is hard to post on a Subreddit ....only IF YOUR QUESTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SUBREDDIT.
the fact that you wrote "on random Subreddit" shows the type of person you are.
You need to understand how Reddit works.
Best-Project-230@reddit
An app is supposed to be user friendly.
SpoonFed_1@reddit
this has nothing to do with the usability or friendliness of the app... he posted on the wrong subreddit and the post was removed.
People have to understand that if the subreddit is for "car enthusiasts" and you make a dumb post about how you missed out on Reddit all this time.... it's going to get deleted.
That is the least amount of common sense that users must have.
Best-Project-230@reddit
Here's what you're missing: usability isn't just about buttons and menus...it's also about how forgiving and intuitive a platform is for new users. If someone makes a harmless post because they’re new and the first thing that happens is it gets nuked without explanation, that is a reflection of how unfriendly the app feels.
Reddit isn’t exactly the gold standard of intuitive design. Expecting every new user to instantly grasp the invisible rules of subreddit etiquette like they’ve studied some ancient Reddit scroll is ridiculous. Maybe instead of flexing your "common sense" bar, try having a bit of common decency.
But hey, sure...blame the user for not being born with subreddit telepathy. Very helpful.
SpoonFed_1@reddit
you are dumb.
No one is complaining about the app UI
so STFU
It was a human moderator that deleted his post.
It was deleted because it had no relevance to the Subreddit.
Moderators are within their right to delete posts that have no relevance to the Subreddit.
He should have made his post in Subreddits like r/AskReddit , r/NoStupidQuestions or something similar.
so STOP making this about the user interface, the app, the buttons and all that nonsense.
I am done responding to you.
Have a nice life.
Best-Project-230@reddit
Wow. That was a lot of rage for someone who completely missed the point. Calm down dude.
No one said it was the buttons or the UI...usability also includes how a platform handles new users, mistakes, and onboarding. But sure, go off.
Yes, moderators have the right to delete posts. No one’s questioning that. What’s being criticized is how that’s handled. Deleting a harmless post without any explanation or redirect just makes the platform feel cold and unwelcoming...especially for new users who aren’t Reddit power mods like you.
Telling someone to “STFU” just because they pointed out a valid criticism? Cute. Keep gatekeeping Reddit like it’s your personal kingdom. Hope it makes you feel important.
Anyway, you said you're done responding, so... stick to it.

Late for what?
HatlessDuck@reddit
But you are early for Digg.
