Should I change my 9 year old gtx1070's thermal paste?

Hi everyone!
I've had this card for almost 9 years, probably will change it this year or the following, but I still keep it for a second PC since its still going strong.
Gonna be honest, the case is usually drowning in dust, and I only clean it like every 2 years, not doing that on the new PC.
The thing is that the temps aren't bad. I tested it with some games and at 97-98% usage it reaches 71-72º and the fans hit 2632 rpm. Now, it's so freaking loud, that's my problem.
Should I change its thermal paste and thermal pads? Never done it before, thermal paste doesn't seem complicated, but the thermal pads do.
Thanks.

No. 99% paste isnt dried and you will get 1c improvement, after doing all the work and risking putting paste that will be prone to pump out unlike original paste. If its not clean clean the card with compressed air and thats all maintenace it needs

If it’s not broke don’t fix it. Once you have new card then play with it.

You still have decent temps and probably plenty of dust in the GPU cooler and fans. Blast it clean with compressed air and clean case fans and dust filters too.
You very likely will lower your temps and don’t have to mess around with the GPU, possibly breaking something .

Leave be it until you get your new PC. Many things can go wrong when you are inexperienced, and the stakes are high.

did this for my 980ti a few weeks ago. paste was rock hard. Didn’t know about thermal pads and honestly I still don’t know what they looked like, but I absolutely got better thermals and was able to overclock it harder. recently got a 5070ti tho, you should upgrade if you can.

Yeah dude hit it with some PTM7950 and you're golden

If you’re changing the card in the next year I’d just give it a good clean but leave it. Not worth it for sound but that’s just me.
The thermal pads will probably tear when you remove the heatsink if it’s 9 years old. You’d have to get new thermal pads with the correct thickness to replace them, or use thermal putty which I personally think is pretty easy.

Just take a look inside -- you'd most likely be fine with just repasting it. If 70-80% of the pads are dissolved away or paper thin, then you'd consider replacing them.

You can try but first clean it from dust and make sure the pc gets some air, dont stuff it in to a closet or something.

sure
probably part of why it's so loud is because the fans have to be cranked to keep the temps controlled
