Two bucks for a roll of duct tape

Take this as an opportunity to upgrade your fork.

i did and i love it

My guess is $200-300 fixed at a bike shop.

First, thing you should do is take it to a local shop and ask them to write up “an insurance quote for the bike.” From there you can really see what you need! #brick&mortar #30+years

thanks for the help i have rock shox coming in soon

I had a similar fork crack near one of the knobs due to rust, I just bought a cheap but reliable suntour fork as a replacement and I've been riding happy ever since

I changed my front fork on the 700 series to Rock Shox.
This shock works great... https://www.treefortbikes.com/RockShox-Recon-Silver-RL-Suspension-Fork-275-100?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplp333222444978&sc_intid=333222444978&gad_source=1

I bought my RockShox Judy for about 150€,so no more than 150-200€,that's not too bad if you ask me
Also,is it tapered or not?
BuildBreakFix@reddit
Is the only damage the fork? New forks can be had for $100-$200.
Amazin8Trade@reddit
Lol
CrashTestPhoto@reddit
Or less than $100 to replace what was actually on the bike before.
BuildBreakFix@reddit
lol? That’s not even remotely close to what these bikes come with stock.
Thick-Term-6820@reddit (OP)
just the fork

I think I edited while your were responding. I’d check the steerer tube and the wheel.

You can get pretty decent used forks for cheap these days.

not sure how to figure out dimensions
heavy_shit_bro@reddit
The things that you need to figure out or get help from a shop to figure out is the type of steerer tube that fork has, the type of headset(bearings in the frame) it carries, the travel of the fork, axle width and type, and rim size(NOT tire size)

Depending on which type of fork you have and the kind of damage there’s two ways you can do this:
Buy a “Suspension Fork Frame”. I personally haven’t seen one for this model but if you can find one and have the expertise to install it, go for it/ask a bike shop to repair it.
Buy a complete new fork and install it, this option is much more expensive because of the shocks itself/or you can buy a rigid fork without any shocks.
Hope this helped!

Bike mechanic here, just wanted to fix up a bit of lingo. The “fork frame” are called fork lowers. On any name brand fork(Fox, RockShox, Marzochi, etc.) you can get replacement lowers for most of their stuff going back 6-8 years. However, you’re right. A cheap “fork” is not going to have replacement lowers readily available to buy.
Fork replacements do require more work to install and when OP goes this likely route, they should find a reputable shop in their area.
OP, when trying to find a shop, let them know you’re willing to keep the battery at home. Most shops are pretty leery of battery fires despite Ride 1 Up having pretty standard and reliable Bafang batteries.
