What motherboard for 9800x3d and 5070ti?

Best bang for the buck motherboard ideally, I’ve seen the x870 tomahawk recommended a lot but $300 for a motherboard seems crazy to me

What kind of things do you want in your MOBO? Are you going to be slamming more than one or two M2 SSDs in there, or do you need another PCIE slot for something like a sound card? Do you care about USB 4 or WIFI 7?

The rate at which people over-spend on motherboards will never cease to amaze me. It gets a lot simpler when you realize that, assuming the board you select has sufficient VRM capacity, for the most part motherboards perform very similarly to each other, and the chipset makes basically zero difference. (The exception here is, of course, if you're dropping a ton of PCIe cards or M.2 drives in the machine, but for the most part, it's pretty rare that people will put more than one PCIe card in the machine or have more than two M.2 drives) I personally like the ASRock B850 Pro RS WiFi right now as I think it's a really great balance of features and price. There IS some folks that are reporting over-voltage issues with ASRock boards (GamersNexus did a story on it and could neither prove that it was a problem, nor disprove it), but I personally think that if you update the BIOS when the machine gets going, it'll be fine. In the event you don't want to take the (minor to zero (in my opinion)) risk with an ASRock board, I would probably use the MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI. If you're wanting to use X870 for the USB4 capability, I'd probably use the MSI X870 GAMING PLUS WIFI.

Find one that supports all of the things you want to plug into it. Motherboards don't impact performance. [Just avoid ASRock.](https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/processors/not-just-crumbs-in-the-cpu-socket-over-100-amd-9800x3d-chips-are-now-reported-to-have-gone-pop-and-the-most-by-far-have-died-in-asrock-motherboards/)
