No disservice to you, but I did upvote what the "other science guy" said. Yeah the misquote was a bit of a dickish move. There is a huge difference between "None" and "None?" the fact that they purposefully left out that question mark, or worse that they didn't even recognise the difference, it speaks volumes. However, everything after that was solid information, definitely worth an upvote. It's good that you aren't going to let the downvotes bother you, because you're going to get a lot more, way more than -7, expect upper -20's to -40's and potentially over 50 if the post gains traction. Trauma is such a taboo topic here on r/AskUK, and the ongoing persecutation of fat by the general public is quite severe. The idea that anyone could be fat for any kind of reason besides greed or lack of willpower, isn't one the general public wants to embrace. Certainly not trauma, genetics, or other underlying medical conditions. Trauma is very hard to address, even for people who specialise in mental care, it is a very difficult, and often treated on a case by case basis. Do not not go too hard on the other guy for failing to address it, I know that I'm not able to address it either. Although I do at least recognise that trauma is an important issue that does need to be resolved, not just for weight gain, but for many of the cultural and societal issues we are facing right now. FYI: I'm probably going to get about 20-30+ downvotes myself for even acknowledging trauma, and discussing it with you. That doesn't matter. It's just fake Internet points. I want you to know that I recognise and empathise with the people who are impacted by this issue. Other people may be content to sweep it under the rug and pretend it does not exist. I am not one of those people, I see, I hear, and I speak out. You are not in this alone.
