DOWNLOAD SMART TUBE ON YOUR SMART TV. IT SKIPS ALL ADS. 80% OF IN VIDEO SPONSOR READS(it doesnt catch them all). SKIPS MOST INTROS. ITS INCREDIBLE. VERY EASY ON GOOGLE TV. ask if you need help.
Anon doesn't realize you can subscribe to channels you like, and instead needs to be spoonfed from the "suggestions" and "trending"
YouTube has always been 99.9% garbage. It's just moved from children and boomers who dont know how to work a camera or edit, to AI uninspired nonesence.
Funny enough, a lot of Boomers know how to work a camera and edit now, and there's a lot of quality content from older generations now.
you can also tell youtube to not recommend channels and videos to you that you don't like, the system isn't perfect (and youtube can get weirdly insistent on certain topics) but at some point it will get the message.
Over half of this guy’s problems are solved by creating an account and using the “do not recommend channel” button lmao
YouTube will eventually start shilling “inappropriate” shit at you if it learns that’s what keeps you watching ads, I got recommended Null’s podcast after watching videos about characters on the Farms cause of the audience overlap
Imagine being upset that a platform who's entire business model is a platform that is free for both creators and consumers, with no bar in terms of content or quality (as long as it isn't illegal), where literally 500 hours of content is uploaded per minute, that the majority of the content sucks balls.
Like, no shit dude.
Funny enough, that 0.1% of content that's actually decent is still probably better than 99% of what big studios are pushing out, and in way more abundance.
The other half of his complaints can be avoided by avoiding the comments section, which has always been a fucking cesspool, anon’s got a serious copium addiction if he thinks the YouTube comment section is substantially different from back in the day
Literally have no idea what this guy is talking about, I go into my subscriptions and I watch the videos of people I'm subscribed to. Sometimes I click the home button and it gives me cool videos about Inventions and fish tanks.
I have shorts disabled and I don't get ads, This guy is choosing to live in his own hell by his own actions.
He's right the service sucks, but he's wrong to keep using it and complaining rather than do something about it.
Idk about you but my YouTube is calibrated so accurately to my taste I don't even use the search bar, I just think about what videos I might wanna watch and it's right there in my recommendations.
But I guess since all I watch are gaming related content. Heck I don't even know what YouTube I watch they all have random AI names but they all have the same voice, same gaming content, and same hatred for DEI games that I have so it's all good to me.
And on shorts I just like watching Blackadder and Breaking Bad scenes and that's all I get so that's great.
Really the only two channels I actively enter to watch their newer videos are Forgotten Weapons and DarkviperAU, the rest is AI slop about woke assasins creed and Bethesda slop on my recommendations(I love watching it)
I only use youtube on mobile tho, don’t bother with desktop.
Brave browser, removes ads, disables youtube shorts. Lets you turn off your phone screen and the video audio still plays.
Subscribe to good quality channels, cull my subscription list every now and then to remove shit content.
I spammed the fuck outta those annoying channels that upload familyguy and mindless shit.
Now I only get stuff from channels i like.
Urben explorers, cave/mine/ sewer exploring, Ukrainian bunker/ metro exploring (Kreosan English, super sus English, Shiey, etc)
the occasional documentary on random shit (frontline pbs (theyre really good) ),
some occasional video some boomer made sharing his wisdom or telling a story like some anon here said (there a few good ones out there).
Computer/ enterprise server shit (ServeTheHome)
some 30min+ videos on traditional classic green text readings from /x/ but people actually put effort in these, its not just mindless brain rot automated reading (midnight broadcast, Chass, Keque, KeKKe the op)
or horror stories narrated by people who put actual effort (Mr. Nightmare, scary interesting, Chilling scares)
I’d suggest yall look at some of these channels they’re actually really good
It's not just the endless ads, the sponsorships, and the geeked out search results that are intended to shape your viewing habits, it's the endless censorship across the platform now - even the most innocuous language is bleeped out of videos, either automatically, or by the uploader themself to avoid getting demonetized or a content strike.
i'm more sad at the fact that old classics are getting absolutely raped every time youtube changes how videos are compressed. and if not that, they seem to get memoryholed, being surprisingly difficult to actually find, particularly if they have some mildly offensive title or content in it.
master chief sucks at halo 3, which had once perfectly legible text on the screen in one part of the video, is now completely unreadable. the only reason you can figure out what it is, is because chief mentions it.
I knew it was bad when you search any current event and the first 20 results are the legacy media channels that people originally went to youtube to escape.
No, i dont want to watch videos by CNN, Fox, or MSNBC, if i did i wouldnt be using youtube.
What's worse is them making unnecessary updates to fill their productivity quota even at the cost of taking a huge steaming pile of shit on the UX, now you have to go through dumbshit like "high quality/data saving" settings instead of just directly changing the resolutions but now they're moving it to "advanced settings".
And tell youtube what you don't want to see, there's literally functions to facilitate that desire. Youtube isn't going to recommend you as many videos in a niche if you don't watch the video aol the way through, don't give it a like, and if you click "not interested," or "don't recommend channel." It's your own undoing if you click on and watch on hour long video by a channel you know is slop.
yeah, sometimes it feels like it doesn't work but it doesn't hurt to do it anyways. i also started using like/dislike button more often, don't know if that helps but i hope it does
You have to be persistent with telling them you don't want something sometimes.
I believe that youtube is more likely to recommend videos if you and others like the video, I don't actually know if disliking it does anything. I'm only seeing online people are saying it does nothing for your algorithm. I have been able to train my algorithm to recommend me new music with less than a hundred views since I will click on them and like them since I use my likes as a watch later playlist.
I have heard that generally sites with algorithms like recommending content that is controversial. That is to say content the audience is in disagreement with themselves since it's engagement. Facebook had a problem with content that farmed for angry emoji reactions since it's an easy reaction to get and it gets people talking. Reddit even has a function to show you content that has a roughly even upvote / downvote ratio in their controversial filter.
the problem you people are having is you WANT to be spoonfed. youre just angry that the slop youre being provided isnt what you want (it probably is).
its really easy, just choose your own shit and watch only from your subscriptions.
even the frontpage suggested shit becomes good pretty quick if you tell it "dont suggest this channel anymore" and such.
problem with you trough feeders is that you pretend you dont like videos but then you "hate" watch 4 hours of asmongoloid so youtube understandably suggests the slop that comprises the majority of your normal diet.
