The can’t handle the heat

My dad was an armored car driver and someone tested the armor by shooting his truck. Years later, when I was a tank crewman, some rednecks started shooting at one of our tanks (in the field, with Marines working on it).
Something about armored vehicles make the dumbest gun owners get froggy.

They’re not as armored as you think

Tanks or armored cars? I know Jack shit about the latter, but I can tell you that our Abrams had adequate armor.

I’m assuming he meant the trucks. Brinks trucks don’t have bullet proof cargo areas because it would be insanely heavier. The cabin (and any glass) is heavily armored to protect the drivers, which in turn, protect “the goods” by evading or incapacitating attackers/thieves. The side walls are just thick enough to hinder quickly cutting open with tools, but the rear door and surrounding structure is bulletproof, again mainly to protect the drivers against shots from behind. The side panels don’t matter as much because you’d just be shooting the stuff you’re trying to steal, so they’re thinner to save on weight. Brinks trucks are already HEAVY AF from all the armor and special tires, so sacrificing side and top panels around the cargo area is understandable.
